Hulu Selangor back with BN, Updated

I told you so. PKR is so predictable, unless this is Zaid's own decision to invalidate the by-election.

I had predicted a 5K majority but it was not to be. This is one post election analysis which explained the expectancy.

"Vote Buying"

I must say that I am rather surprised that this was the main reason given for the loss of Hulu Selangor from the PR stable.

Lim Kit Siang has these reasons. See the heading? It was PKR's loss, not the PR.

While blaming 'egos', Lim Kit Siang does not realise how big his ego is, by absolving the the DAP in the loss. He was probably happy about the DAP's achievement in eroding BN's Chinese vote.

Heaving it all on the PKR machinery, I wonder how PKR supporters will take this
"PKR’s Hulu Selangor election machinery was phenomenally hopeless. It was frayed, uninspiring, shoddy. Too many “egos” were involved. To be straightforward without revealing too much, there were “three” egos involved."
"And it is no exaggeration to say that PKR campaigners were arrogant."

and how Zaid will accept this?
"What would have mattered was Zaid’s manner when engaging the Malays. It was deplorable to say the least."

And what say you, Datuk Seri Anwar?

Hulu Selangor back with BN

Updates

And so the whining begins 1. "vote-buying"

Hulu Selangor is back in Barisan's fold. With this media report, clutching at straws. The victory is indeed sweet.

Tahniah to all who made this possible.

At the same time, YB Kamalanathan MP Hulu Selangor, it is imperative that all promises to the electorate be kept and fulfilled.

Just waiting for the PKR/PR whining. Mayhaps disputing the validity of the election?

Hulu Selangor By-Election Part1 Zaid Ibrahim

The PR in general and PKR in particular, are indeed in dire and desperate state. First by their choice in the candidacy of Zaid Ibrahim and secondly by their stale propaganda campaign.

The PR are still living the dream that the GE 12 result were the result of disenchantment of the BN led Govt. GE 12 was not a rejection of BN but a stinging protest towards the person leading the Govt, the fickle and ineffective Tun AAB. The PR disregard of the Tun MM factor is at their peril.

Tun AAB was the person who sanctioned the ex-gratia payment to Tun Salleh Abas, who was removed as Lord President by due process, and the other judges involved in this affair.

And who was the genius conceiving this obvious misadventure and generated a neat PR (public relations) campaign for himself in the process? None other than a back door minister, Zaid Ibrahim. He subsequently resigned as a "matter of principle" because of the arrest of a reporter and an MP cum assemblywoman.

If Zaid surmised that the arrests were an irresponsible and illogical act to warrant his resignation, then what does that say of the PM in charge at that particular time? It says that allowing the ex-gratia payments and these arrests are consistent of a leader who listens to others and had no mind to think on his own. Therefore Zaid cannot claim to have championed to right an "injustice" when both decisions were inherently wrong.

By accepting and then resigning as a minister in spite of the Tun AAB giving him support, he showed that he truly is not the man he is made out to be, despite all the hype, for he could have stayed and fought on, as a "matter of principle".

Then again why, as a "matter of principle", did he go on this PR (public relations) exercise, to 'exonerate' someone who was found unfit to be Lord President, the course of action in which he himself supported as president of the Muslim Lawyers Association at that time?

See his double speak and the superspin in the same article,

Asked on Dr Mahathir statement's yesterday that Zaid, who was then the President of the Muslim Lawyers Association, had fully supported the government's action that was taken in 1988, he said it was not correct.

"That is their conclusion. They inferred from my supporting the legality of the tribunal, so therefore they support it. Whatever it is, I want to say this. If I have done wrong against Tun (Salleh) and other judges, I am prepared to apologise," he said.

Right. So the Govt had to cough up for his remorse. How convenient.

Also, as a lawyer, he should have realised the legal repercussions that could arise in the future, by this 'compensation' to the judges. Well, he could take on cases where a person who were 'aggrieved' in the courts can seek compensation from the Govt! Why he could also say that he himself had made the precedent. Crying about separation of Judiciary and the Executive, what a load of hogwash.

All it did was to tarnish the same Govt and party which he himself was a part of.

Touching on Dr Mahathir's comment in the newspapers yesterday on his suggestion, Zaid said he was not offended by Dr Mahathir's comment and added that "I have a lot of regard and respect for him. He has done a lot for the country but we have to move on."

"I have never done anything wrong. I have supported many controversial issues, which he has implemented. During the constitutional crisis in 1990, others became afraid but I was with him. I defended his proposal," he said.

See the same double speak and hyper spin again.

This is also the same Zaid Ibrahim who was suspended by UMNO for money politics and limply tries to acquit himself. Can you imagine the gall and ego of this person to imply that winning the KB parliamentary election seat in 2004 was an achievement. GE 11 was a watershed year for the BN in almost making a clean sheet, losing Kelantan by a wafer thin 24-21 seats.

Is this a man of principles, with another spinner, subtly implicating a deceased 'friend' who now cannot defend himself? In his defence, from the article link above.....

For the charges to have any merit, there must be a witness to support the charge of money politics. If accusations against my friend, Zahari Wahab, of giving money for votes had any merit, how were they certain it wasn’t for Zahari’s own campaign?

At the time, Zahari himself was contesting for the vice presidency of the division. Even if it was true that Zahari had indulged in money politics, he might have done it for himself as he was the one contesting.

...... So there you are the PR (public relations) candidate from PKR.

CSI MyOhMy updated

The circumstances and the cause of TBH (may his soul rest in peace) death has to be ascertained.
His demise rightly deserved an inquest.

Sadly this inquest has turned into a political sideshow.

The DAP has taken full advantage of an unfortunate incident for maximum mileage. The unsigned mystery letter implicating the former Selangor MB for corruption comes to mind.

Now Madam CSI has taken centre stage by reports that she will not testify after observing the 2nd autopsy.

As usual LKS is screaming Putrajaya, Cabinet, all and sundry for an explanation for Madam CSI's absence.

Tin kosong as usual and barking up the wrong tree.

It defies logic given that the PKR Selangor Govt were the paymaster for her expertise and whatever reason for her absence, Khalid and Co should have been informed.....

UPDATED
By Neville Spykerman

SHAH ALAM, April 14 — Selangor government officials today welcomed news that Thai pathologist Dr Pornthip Rojanasunand is now willing to testify at Teoh Beng Hock’s inquest.

“We welcome the news and we are taking steps to contact the Thai Ministry of Justice.” said one of the officials."

.....in minute detail by Madam CSI as to the reasons for her decision not to testify.

The integrity of our country is in question here. We want, no, we demand to know these reasons.

Says much for her professionalism and as well as DAP's usual antics.

The latest is that Madam CSI will be coming after all. Flip-flopping seems to be a contagious disease post 2004.

Mat Taib - Hulu Selangor Candidate

I am very much in favour of Tan Sri Muhammad Muhammad Taib as the BN candidate for the Hulu Selangor by-election.

The MIC should step aside and hand the seat to UMNO and ensure victory for BN.

BN can always compensate the MIC with another seat in GE13.

My reason has nothing to do with whatever anybody else is saying but because I had an occasion to meet Mat Taib in 1997 when my dad was in the ICU of the Tawakal Hospital in KL. I slept in the visitors area there for 12 days until dad passed away due to heart failure.

This meeting had a lasting impression on me.

One night close to mid-night when I went outside for a smoke, I noticed a Merce with the Mentri Besar insignia.

I walked over and the driver confirmed that MB was upstairs. No bodyguards and police outriders were around.

We broke into a conversation and was told thus "MB lambat kerana ramai sangat orang nak jumpa MB hari ini. Tiap minggu MB mesti lawat satu kampung, tetapi hari ini betul ramai orang."

As we were talking along came this tall figure walking towards me and when he approached me he held out his hand. I shook his hand and wished him.

"Buat apa kat sini?" he asked.

"Father I atas kat ICU" I replied.

"Oh, father I pun sini tapi check up saja" he responded and "father you macam mana?"

"Tak tahu Tan Sri, tenat juga" I said, becoz dad was not getting better.

"Ok, all the best to your father" and with that he left.

That short encounter showed qualities and character in the man which I respect and hold in high regard till this day.

Mat Taib showed the humble person he is. It was he who extended his hand. A Mentri Besar taking that little bit of time to have a word or two with me.

A filial son. Even though it might have been tiring for him after a long day, there he was at that late hour, to visit his father. And his father was only having a check up.

A man of of the rakyat. Visiting at least one village a week shows his care and concern for the welfare of the rakyat.

Is it any wonder that everyone is saying if Mat Taib were to stand, it will be a walkover?

Standing by Matthias Chang

Tomorrow is Easter, the day of the resurrection of Christ. It is significant. I plead with brother Matthias to end his hunger protest and rise for the challenge ahead.

Lets fight the fight.

Brother Matthias, you need your strength for this fight.

There are many on your side and are deeply moved by your courageous deed.

I stand in solidarity with you in sadness but hope and many prayers.

May the spirit of Easter be upon you.
