So What Is Anwar Ibrahim Trying to Say Now?

The Wall Street Journal, posting an article yesterday of an interview the same day, provides another opportunity for one to examine what exactly Anwar Ibrahim is trying to say.

My choice picks follows.

On the his acquittal and appeal,

"The judgment [in the sodomy case] was very strong" and "difficult to appeal," Mr. Anwar said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal at his political party's headquarters here Thursday.

Is Anwar saying that has seen and read the written judgement, when his counsel Karpal Singh just a day before confirmed, "grounds of written judgment of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's acquittal on a charge of sodomising his former aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan is not yet ready"?

In the absence of the written judgement is Anwar saying the judgement, in a "three-minute oral decision" consisting these few lines as is widely reported,

"After going through the evidence, the court could not be 100% certain that integrity of DNA samples was not compromised, and finds that it is not safe to rely on DNA evidence.

"As such, court is left only with Saiful's testimony. As this is a sexual crime, the court is reluctant to convict based entirely on Saiful's testimony, which is uncorroborated. The accused is thus acquitted and discharged."

a decision that is "very strong" and "difficult to appeal" against?

Is he also saying the appeal process, "which began Jan. 20, would likely take at least six months, meaning it could loom over and outlast the election campaign" not exactly what he meant before when he said that “This is not coincidental, that the end of the case is going to coincide with (general) elections,”

While Anwar has specifically said that he is against same sex mariagges "In response to recent local reports that he supported gay marriage, Mr. Anwar said they were wrong", does that also mean that he specifically does not support gay rights or the LGBT Movement?

And what exactly is Anwar saying while "Malaysia's sodomy laws are "archaic" ", the sodomy laws only "could be amended" and not wholly abolished if it is not his "business to attack people or arrest people based on their sexual orientation"?

No matter who is saying what, about a "shopping spree" that Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor has denied, the opposition portal Malaysian Insider claims to have a media statement from designer Carl Kapp, "Aussie designer clarifies Rosmah shopping r eports" refuting an Australian report of the said "spree".

That Australian report by jounalist Andrew Hornery, had been given extensive coverage by the other more rabid opposition portal Malaysiakini.

Malaysiakini even reports journalist Andrew Hornery standing by his article, "Co lumnist: I verified details with designer Kapp" in their latest update.

Someone must be lying.

This is how the Aussie journalist originating the story, Andrew Hornery, and his paper the Sydney Morning Herald, is described by another Australian website, Australia's Worst Jounalist.

Numerous factual errors. Andrew Hornery, unable to transcribe accurately factual matters or deliberately engages in falsehoods to degrade his subject, and heighten his vitriole.

Persons contacted by this dishonest journalist should not afford him an interview, as quotations will be altered to suit the journalist's purpose. Any correspondence with the editor responsible, Peter Kerr, fails to elicit a satisfactory response.

"Little known Muhammad Afifi said such violent clashes were actually led by “certain foreign-based forces” who would never tire of offering aid to the locals to topple their own governments."

Lim Guan Eng Dragon Year Movie and Dance

Penang Chief Minister, Lim Guan Eng, doing the twist to claim credit where credit is not due, is nothing new.

For example his apology to His Royal Highness the Sultan of Johore, in regards to a comparison of safeness, praising Penang and belittling Johore, he is reported to have uttered,

“You don't have to worry about your safety when you come to Penang. In Johor, if you are a Singaporean, you are likely to get kidnapped.”

shouldn't the Polis DiRaja Malaysia (PDRM) be credited, for Penang being the safer state?

The statement, which Guan Eng could not recall making in the public or private domain but non the less saw fit to apologise to HRH, to foreign correspondents was to give an impression and assume credit for the Penang State Govt when the matter is clearly the efforts of PDRM.

A more recent Twist, only because it was reported just two days ago in the Star, "Guan Eng should stop claiming he helped settle RM630mil loan, says Donald Lim".

"The deputy minister explained that the state debt was actually transferred to the Federal Government following a water restructuring agreement that was initiated even before Pakatan Rakyat came to power in Penang."

The Guan Eng 600 million Ringgit twist,

In contrast, Pakatan Rakyat-managed states have successfully managed their finances and not overburdened the people with debts. In fact, Penang managed to reduce state debt from RM630 million at 8 March 2008 to only RM30 million as at end of October 2011. This represents a debt reduction of 95% or RM600 million, which is the highest debt reduction of any state in Malaysia’s history!

Why the Federal Govt had been unforthcoming and dancing to the Guan Eng twist until now, when it was exposed in blogger satD's October 27, 2011 post, "Was the Yellow Ah Beng being proofy again", is another question altogether.

2012 is the anniversary of the much acclaimed 2000 Dragon year swordplay movie "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon".

This holiday commentary, "Raffles Class for holiday" could be the preview of a dance movie scheduled to be released in the year of the Dragon.

The Penang CM Lim Guan Eng being born in 8 December 1960 and though his dancing role is as yet unconfirmed, the title of this potential blockbuster is tentatively, "Crouching Dragon, Hidden Rat".

In my earlier post "Anwar Ibrahim Sodomy II Acquittal. No Decision to Appeal, Yet", I maintained that the AG would appeal the Anwar Ibrahim acquittal.

It has now been confirmed that an appeal was lodged at the High Court this evening.

So what exactly was Anwar trying to say?

In his posting at his blog, "Not Fall Into The Trap Waylaid By The Umno-Controlled Media" the exact reply, to a question that is subject of a suit against Utusan Malaysia, is quote,

“We will have to review archaic laws and we, Muslims and non Muslims generally believe and committed to support the sanctity of marriage between man and woman in Malaysia.

But we should not be seen as punitive and consider the archaic laws as relevant. We need to review them. We do not promote homosexuality in public sphere and domain.

We will not make apologies towards that. I think to use this sort of legislation to be punitive, punish innocent people cannot be condoned and be tolerated.”

1. "We will have to review archaic laws.."

2. "But we should not be seen as punitive.." (my emphasis)

3. "..and not consider the archaic laws as relevant." ("not" added for the context of the sentence)

4. "We do not promote homosexuality in public sphere and domain." (my emphasis)

5. "We will not make apologies towards that." (referring to 4 above)

6. "I think to use this sort of legislation to be punitive, punish innocent people cannot be condoned and be tolerated.” (my emphasis)

The question that elicited the reply is, according to the video,

"How far do you want that message of freedom to go because your case, that you have just been acquitted over; that generated a really newly invigorated gay-right movement in your country.......are you prepared to take that idea, anti-discrimination, as far as gay-rights"

It is therefore abundantly clear that Anwar was replying to a question regarding the gay-right movement, anti-discrimination of gays and gay-rights in that order.

Now, let's establish the meaning of gay-rights.

In the broadest sense the gay-right movement, even though gay would mean having sexual orientation towards a same gender, has evolved into a singular movement to include rights of lesbians (female homosexual), gays (male homosexual), bisexuals and transsexuals or the LGBT Movement.

Be that as it may, the question in conflict is whether or not Anwar supports gay-rights, either in the same sex context or gay-rights in the broadest sense.

This is where the Anwar reply does not categorically state as much.

What he categorically states is "we, Muslims and non Muslims generally believe and committed to support the sanctity of marriage between man and woman in Malaysia."

The "the sanctity of marriage between man and woman". That's all.

No where in his reply is there any reference to gay-rights.

Even then, he chooses the word "generally".

It is homosexuality and not gay-rights (in any sense) that Anwar refers to when he says "We do not promote homosexuality in public sphere and domain".

Anwar continues,"We will not make apologies towards that."

Apologies for what? Not promoting homosexuality. Again, that's all.

And for that matter homosexuality "in public sphere and domain".

By saying that "we" do not make apologies for not promoting homosexuality in the "public sphere and domain", is Anwar saying "we" do not discourage homosexuality when it is in the privacy of one's sphere and domain?

The only conclusion one can come up with is that Anwar has sidestepped the question of whether he supports gay-rights or not.

That is why Anwar could only reply by way of mentioning "archaic" laws that are "not relevant", in the context of the question, which outlaws homosexuality.

And that is why Anwar finds himself in the predicament he is in.

A predicament out of a predicament in answering a question that would have put him in a predicament of losing the Muslim and/or liberal description of Anwar Ibrahim.

Chee Gaik Yap Rape and Murder - Another Sensational Crime Story?

The Straits Times reported "Rape suspect arrested after six years in hiding"

From the report it looks as though it will have some political intrigue,

"The 31-year-old man, who has been on the run since 2006, was ambushed and detained at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Sepang, Selangor. It was learnt that the suspect is the son of a prominent “Datuk” in the state."

The crime had been the subject of an article, "The Grizzly **** Murder"

While the NST report corroborates the article, of a political connection and conspiracy of sorts, that the police had apprehended the suspect after being alert for six years disproves parts of the story.

In the NST report, the person apprehended is a prime suspect and on the wanted list because,

"It was learnt that police suspected the suspect's in volvement in the case following a DNA test conducted on him when he was called to assist investigation six years ago" and "The suspect however escaped arrest when he left the country after performing the DNA test"

SOPA Protests

Remember when the international community took note and "outraged ordinary Malaysians, and several people took to Twitter to express support for the cyber-attacks." and hacker "Anonymous said Malaysia's censorship of films and television shows and its blocking of file-sharing websites amounted to a denial of human rights."?

A United States bill which has raised the ire of the internet community with Wikipedia strongly protesting and Google joining in.

The bill is seen to create more serious problems than resolving them.

It is about online piracy.

The act is called SOPA, Stop Online Piracy Act.

President Obama has thrown his lot with the protesting side but it still remains to be seen whether that would completely kill the bill.

I will be really interested if hacker Anonymous will react in the same way that it responded to the Malaysian situation?

As a sign of solidarity with major protesters Wikipedia has shut down the site 18 January, which is today in Malaysia.

Anwar Ibrahim Sodomy II Acquittal. No Decision to Appeal, Yet

Other than a recommendation by the prosecution and pleadings by the aggrieved parties, there has been no conclusive decision to appeal the High Court's stunning verdict to acquit Anwar Ibrahim for Sodomy II.

Not yet.

It has been more than a week.

Questions remain.

One that is of interest, to most interested parties, is the written judgement of the decision to acquit.

It would seem that it would not be necessary or mandatory for the prosecution to receive the written decision when making the appeal.

Nor would it be mandatory for the judge to provide one until an appeal has been made.

Courts of Judicature Act 1964,

52. (1) When a notice of appeal has been filed the Judge by whom the decision was given shall, if he has not already written his judgment, record in writing the grounds of his decision, and the written judgment or grounds of decision shall form part of the record of the proceedings.

So, is there a written judgement?

Then there is a question in the matter of time by which the appeal must be lodged.

I believe that it is 14 days after the decision was delivered.

51. (1) Every appeal shall be by notice in writing which shall be filed with the Registrar of the Court from which the appeal lies at the place where the decision appealed against was given within fourteen days after the date of the decision.

14 working days?

In my other post and from the link provided,

"The calculation of the 14 days when the last day of the time period falls on a weekly or public holiday was discussed in the case of Kentucky Fried Chicken [1976] 2MLJ 145 that the date which the sentence is passed is excluded and where the last day falls on a Sunday or weekly holiday, the last date to file would then be Monday, the next working day."

would mean that the last day to file an appeal would have to be the 24th of January but it being a public holiday, the final day will be the next day, 25th this month.

Be that as it may and even if the AG's office decides not to appeal, and even though I read it to be in relation to time and place,

39. (1) The Court shall sit on such dates and at such places as the President may from time to time appoint:

Provided that the President may, when he deems it expedient, direct that any appeal be heard at any time and in any place in Malaysia.

(2) The President may cancel or postpone any sitting of the Court which has been appointed under subsection (1).

Interpretation of the laws has been argued, no?

Well, if a Bar Council constitutional expert can declare that Islam is not the official religion of Malaysia, I too can interpret the law as I see it.

Will the AG appeal?

I still say yes.

An indication? "CJ: Senior judges cannot influence decision by lower courts"

Meanwhile, Court of Appeal President Tan Sri Md Raus Sharif said there would not be any expansion on the number of judges to sit on the appellate panel to hear criminal and civil cases.

He, however, said he would consider constituting a panel comprising more than three judges in exceptional cases if there was an application made by parties in the case.

At the opening of the Legal Year 2012 held on Saturday, Arifin announced that effective January this year, all criminal and civil cases at the Federal Court would be heard by a panel comprising five judges as compared to three previously.

Raja Petra twitted his latest post carrying an NST report and titled 'Nothing wrong with laws against homosexuality'

The NST report RPK refers to and carries an opening statement which "PAS Dewan Ulama vice-head Datuk Dr Mahfodz Mohamed said the country's law against homosexuality was never archaic."

This is specifically in response to Anwar Ibrahim's answer in an interview with the BBC in reply to a question of laws on homosexuality in Malaysia, when Anwar answered the question only mentioning "archaic laws".

In his reply, this what Anwar Ibrahim said,

"Err, blah blah. Err, err, blah blah blah err, err. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah err, err. Blah, blah, blah....err, err"

In the Malay language what we in Malaysia would say "dalam cara menggelabah".

Karpal Singh in his wisdom is quoted by a Bernama report, "Karpal Urges Ag Not To Appeal Anwar's Acquittal",

"This trial has been called the mother of all trials in Malaysia and I think three years is a very long time and that it should be stopped for the sake of all,"

1. The trial took 3 years no thanks to the numerous appeals by Anwar Ibrahim himself and Karpal has gall to advise the AG not to appeal!

2. "For the sake of all"?? What about the complainants sake?

Now this is absurd, Karpal goes on to say,

"Most unfortunate that the matter has come to this extent for Saiful, but I think it is best for the country and all concerned to stop this harassment on Anwar and his family.."

"..harassment on Anwar and his family.."? Readers can take it from there.

Now to the matter at hand, the mother of all meddlers, the has-been John "Rasputin" Malott.

If not for Rocky Bru's post, "Mallot, ambik kau/Mallot the Macaw", I would have missed the meddler's latest excremental diatribe.

I would have thought that ultra meddler would have been running for cover following Anwar's open support for Hudud.

Why would I not think so when the meddler must be a closet racist, if not why would he be supporting a racist Islamophobic congressman by the name of Ed Royce.

Independence of the Judiciary and the Anwar Ibrahim Verdict

I do not understand exhortations questioning the 'Independence of the Malaysian Judiciary'.

These expressions, in as far as the Anwar verdict, especially, or any other decisions where the courts of Malaysia are concerned, defies all logic.

Let's take the Anwar Ibrahim verdict as an explicit case to point.

Guilty verdict - The Govt interfered, conspired, colluded et al but is asked, nay demanded, by all and sundry, "please, you must intervene". And that's ok?

Is this not interference and the judiciary is NOT independent.

Not Guilty - Not interfered implies "you can or could have interfered". But in this case it's okay!

Does this not also mean that the Judiciary is NOT independent?

And when those, who out of that verdict say that it proves that the Judiciary is independent, all and sundry will say nay, but again, in this case it's okay!

Go ahead, juxtapose all reports, comments and responses of the Anwar verdict with my statement.

There lies the lie, one way or the other, "Malaysian Judiciary is Not Independent"

It is only "independent" when decisions go their way.

Or, it is still "not independent" but it's okay.

For what it's worth, like the words of "The Special One", Jose Mourinho, Anwar Ibrahim is now, "Untouchable".

Figure that one out.

Elections In November 2012

The US Presidential, and US Senate elections coinciding, will be held on 6 November.

I have not being following US elections, ever since the George "War criminal" Bush versus Albert "Al Reformasi" Gore controversial presidential elections of 2000, seriously or with interest.

The two Johns, Kerry and McCain, are all in the Bush mould. Obama is a convenient compromise.

By that I mean economic policies, foreign policies being non-negotiable, by all we have seen in the last 12 years since and no need to elaborate why.

Nominations for the GOP presidential candidacy has already been rolling with Mitt Romney an early favourite and front runner.

Notable Republican candidate on offer Ron Paul,, gets my attention for his stand on the US Federal Reserve.

By tradition, being a Democratic Party and incumbent President Obama, with Joe Biden the Vice-President, both would be expected to be the Democratic ticket of choice, unless one or the other opts out as candidate.

Whether Barack Obama can retain the Presidency is left to be seen, for although having advantages for example being in national and international media spotlight during his administration, this article suggests that the challenger will get a sizable chunk of the undecided votes.

Be that as it may, President Obama has already accumulated in his campaign coffers a whopping USD $240 million for re-election equivalent to Rm 752,239,000.

As a comparison, the Elections Offences Act 1954, Section 19 limits election campaign expenses for a Parliamentary seat to Rm 200,000 and a State seat at Rm 100,000, meaning a total of Rm 94,900,000 in expenses is allowed for campaigning to each coalition, within a specified campaign period.

We know of course the Pakatan pack have actively been campaigning ever since that freak result of 2008 but that won't count officially as campaign expenses.

Talking about money and US elections being so sophisticated as to become a science in itself, here's an interesting article.

What I take it to mean is that betting odds together with a variety of predictors could be used to forecast the success of a candidates.

Didn't we have that suspicion all this while, an open secret?

That the betting voter would favour the candidate with better betting odds or to put it in another way the result could be manipulated by bookies who would give short odds of a candidate not in their favour thereby giving the other candidate an edge.

Sorry for an adverse implication, but only in the urban areas would one find bookies to be actively involved in illegal betting activities, so by extension, who has benefited thus far?

As the article says, follow the money.

I see November also as a suitable and convenient time for our 13th General Elections for a slew of reasons notwithstanding elections could be called in early 2013.

Perhaps 18 November.

Best reason?

With all the media frenzy, lobbyists and lobbying in high gear pre and post US elections, there would not be any time spared, for the Pakatan "chosen one" and lonely, Anwar Ibrahim.

Another thing, remember how we all rooted for the War Criminal against Al Reformasi in that Supreme Court decided 2000 US election?

And how the War Criminal became to be the War Criminal?

Anwar Ibrahim Trial Bombings

The outcome of the much drawn-out Sodomy II trial of Anwar Ibrahim came as a surprise to everyone, and to some, an anti-climax.

In political rhetoric expressions of joy of the acquittal by the opposition pack and expressions of disappointment among those who see Anwar guilty as hell, what has gone without notice it would seem, are the explosions in an aftermath of the verdict this Monday.

Why is this despicable acts be referred to only as "explosions"?

These are bombings.

Explosions by time bombs

Both sides of the political divide do not want to address the explosion even with a ten foot pole.

There must be a fear that the culprits would be linked to their respective supporters or party.

Even in the blogosphere it is only given a passing mention at the very most.

This is unacceptable.

It does not matter what affiliation the culprits would belong and found to be associated with.

The bombers must be caught, brought to book and subject the greatest brunt of our laws.

Are we saying these actions are only a "one-off"?

It certainly seem to be the case.

What if it were not the work of local political extremists?

What if it were a trial run of international extremists or others with more diabolic intentions?

The bombings, thank God, has resulted only in injuries and not fatalities.

We do not want our country to be a haven to all and any kind of extremism or covert activities that will lead to costs of human life, not even a single one.

The police must be given our complete co-operation to apprehend these anarchists.

The bombings cannot and must not be a precedent of any kind.

Should the outcome not be favourable to the Pakatan pack, they will continue to protest until their demands are met. On this, Azmin is very sure,

Which means Anwar Ibrahim will be free when the court(s) accede to the Pakatan pack demands. And with that, all faith in the justice system will be restored.

When called to enter his defense, Anwar chose to give an unsworn statement from the dock.

But for sure the impact of that statement from the dock, for whatever reason or value that can be placed upon it, would want and achieves a desired effect. That of convincing Anwaristas as well as for the foreign media and various organisations, of a plan pulling out all the stops to deprive him of power to form the next government by finding him guilty of a heinous crime.

All would be wise to consider, if it were so, whether this tactical "conspiracy" would have the desired effect on the part of the "conspirators"?

gives rise to suspicion of impartiality of the same said report; skepticism arising out of the structure and tenor of the report. Note the following also from the report,

"Dato’ Param Cumaraswamy (at the time Vice-President of the Geneva based International Commission of Jurists) is a passionate advocate for human rights."

"Chief Justice of Western Australia David K. Malcolm AC (also Chair of the Judicial Wing of LAWASIA)....David Malcolm QC (as he then was) attended as the LAWASIA observer at the sedition trial of Dato’ Param Cumaraswamy (then President of the Malaysian Bar Council) who at that time was under attack from the Malaysian Government in 1986."

Objectively, the Federal Court's dismissal and written judgement of Anwar's corruption charges is also covered and included by the Mark Trowell report.

Reading both judgements exclusively, one will be able to form an opinion or conclude the veracity of these judgements.

Mark Trowell's suspect impartiality has not gone unnoticed by the Malaysian IPU delegation in this rebuttal to the Queens Counsel's various reports to the IPU.

"However, the general impression that could be gleaned from these 2 reports prepared by Mark Trowell QC, would be that the reports were actually prepared by one of the members in the Anwar Ibrahim’s defence team and not by an objective observer to the trial."

Reading the prosecution submission (here and here) to establish prima facie, one will also be able to form an opinion conclusively, even at that stage. (Source for links.)

Admittedly, while not having the full transcript of submissions by the defense, and relying on various news reports, the prosecution submission above, however, had addressed some of the points raised by the defense such as reported here by The Sun Daily, at the close.

Admittedly also, I am no legal expert. I understand and express matters as a layman.

Be that as it may, I am at a loss to understand how the defense, in submitting a conspiracy of sorts or ulterior motive to create reasonable doubt as reported,

but does not call Musa and Rodwan to testify.

Or in reporting Sankara Nair's submitting grounds for alleged "conspiracy",

Of note, is one of the defense main witnesses, Brian McDonald the DNA expert.

If a blogger was able to make a disclosure that could cast serious doubts on the credibility of this witness, automatically questions would be asked in the defense choice of witness. Surely, they would have checked thoroughly before deciding on the suitability of the witness.

The most persuasive and consistent defense witness, that may sway the court's decision in Anwar's favour, had been the spine specialist, Dr Thomas Hoogland.

Dr Hoogland's testimony, despite rigorous cross-examination by the prosecution, remained steadfast and sound.

If the court were to accept Dr Hoogland's testimony thereby deciding for Anwar, the whole of the prosecution's case crumbles, and at the same time supports the allegation of "conspiracy".

But, but, that being the case, would it not have been more formidable not only providing Dr Hoogland but also two, three or more spine and a host of the finest orthopedic specialists, together with the latest medical reports, to demolish the prosecution's case?

And by extension, why was there the need for all the other witnesses, whatever motives and all the "solid" alibis?

ADDENDUM

I still hold on to a hope that Anwar Ibrahim will be acquitted for some technical reason as with his acquittal by the Federal Court in Sodomy I.

For I have seen and believed.

The usual response in an ally turnover, from AI dependent AA, AI not being Artificial Intelligence but Anwar Ibrahim and AA not being Alcoholic Anonynous but Azmin Ali, slamming RPK reminds me of the 3 Stooges.

Anwar as the head honcho and domineering Moe, Azmin as the compliant disciplining Larry and RPK as the well meaning but bungling Curly.

All the brouhaha, it seems, because of the all important verdict come 901, which there can be no denying, determine the course of the next general elections.

Worth mentioning, under PKR Defecato Anwar's watch as Minister of Finance, the world Bank had approved in Jun 1998 a USD 300 million Economic Recovery and Social Sector Loan.

The first two loans were subsequently cancelled but the Education Sector Support Project loan was utilised.

Looking at the dates one would get the impression that it was the Tun that had requested the Education Sector Support Project loan as Minister of Finance but a deeper look will tell you otherwise.

Global Financial Integrity was launched in September 2006 following the publication of Capitalism’s Achilles Heel: Dirty Money and How to Renew the Free-Market System, (John Wiley & Sons 2005), written by Center for International Policy Senior Fellow Raymond Baker.

The first and most prominent piece of information on the GFI cover is, the Ford Foundation.

I was extremely upset when my daughter mentioned in passing, of a conversation she overheard, that carolling needed a permit. I told my daughter not to bring up a matter that was untrue and to find out for herself first and if were true then it would be appropriate for mention.

This matter had been a subject post by blogger Hantulaut and I commented with a rebuttal from the IGP in the matter.

As in that post I call upon any reader to provide me a link to any report confirming the allegation.

If this allegation is proven to be accurate, it can only be the following:

1. The police officers are ignorant of the law
2. The police officers are narrow minded bigots
3. The police officers are closet opposition supporters

Item 3 will convince me, just like opposition agents provocateurs having tentacles in Christendom, there are like thinking elements within the administration to frustrate it's initiatives, thereby invoking further contempt towards the Govt.

In the charge to topple the ruling party, opposition sullied Christendom and internal subversion within the administration will gratuitously be given the widest glare of negative publicity by the other rabid opposition element ad hominem, The Malaysian Insider.

My point is this.

Is this another opposition oriented action by a Govt official? Surely not. But it results in the same effect.

I have have great respect and confidence in our Deputy Prime Minister who is also the Education Minister, Tan Sri Muhyddin Yassin.

As this matter comes under the purview of Tan Sri Muhyddins's ministry, and in view of opposition covert schemes prologued, it would be incumbent upon Tan Sri in his wisdom as Education Minister to look into and resolve this matter.

To be fair, even if it is not established whether Rev Father Bishop Tan Sri Murphy Pakiam had pursued formal channels for any grievance, the Rev Father is appealing for a review of the appointment.

Let no other party exploit this issue.

It is only the opposition maniacs who seek capital and gain in amplifying this issue.

That being said, I have to stand by the Church in this matter if established procedures and practices were not adhered to.

And, I will have greater respect for the Education Minister and an even greater confidence in my Deputy Prime Minister, should the matter be resolved.

All of the good that Muammar Qaddafi did for his people, and the immeasurable contribution he made to the oppressed peoples of the world is catalogued everywhere for those who have eyes to see. NATO’s war crimes are also catalogued – they went viral, so even in the absence of a court where NATO and their mercenaries can be tried, millions of people worldwide watched, at their computers and TV screens, the horrific war crimes that unfolded in Sirte and elsewhere in Libya.

The verdicts are in. The question is what can be done about it?
The world was quite literally watching and still can watch, anytime they care to google the litany of obscene crimes committed, when a coalition of the most powerful nations on this earth, backed up by the vast majority of Arab and African misleaders, deployed the most sophisticated arsenal of weaponry in the history of the world against a small bastion of African resistance. In the now famous cities of Sirte and Bani Walid, Colonel Muammar Abu Minyar al-Qaddafi led his people in a courageous battle which lasted for months. The battles of Sirte and Bani Walid have surely earned their place in the annals of African history.

At his side were his son, Mutassim Qaddafi and Libya’s Minister of Defense, and one of the leaders of the 1969 Al Fateh revolution, Major General Abu-Bakr Yunis Jaber. Decades ago, he and the young Muammar were in the same class at the Military Academy in Benghazi and were co founders of the Free Officers’ Movement which overthrew King Idris.

The picture of Sirte, after NATO’s bombardment, is worth more than a thousand words when it comes to understanding what actually took place in this once beautiful and prosperous African city. And all in the name of “protecting civilians” – clearly with the exception of civilians loyal to Muammar Qaddafi and the Al Fateh revolution. We salute all of those who fought to defend Al Fateh and the Pan African project in Sirte, Bani Walid and throughout Libya. They are the real Jihadists – the true Pan-African Army.

Julius Malema, ANC Youth Leader, in reference to the North Atlantic Tribes, asked the question – why are these people so bloodthirsty? He pointed out that they did not seem to understand anything other than war.

It is no surprise that Julius Malema has been banned by Jacob Zuma’s ANC. Zuma is one of those African misleaders who signed Qaddafi’s death warrant, when South Africa, along with Nigeria and French controlled Gabon, all temporary members of the so-called Security Council at the time, agreed to the implementation of a ‘No Fly Zone’, which unleashed the demons of war.

Let us not imagine that they did not know what would ensue – the entire world has just witnessed the destruction of Iraq and Afghanistan. It was a painful blow to many Africans in Africa and throughout the world. We remembered Nelson Mandela’s now famous speech, when on the world stage he called Muammar Qaddafi “one of the great freedom fighters of the 20th century” and he publicly thanked the Brother Leader and the people of Libya for the material and moral support provided to the ANC when, as Mandela put it – their “backs were up against the wall.” The half-hearted attempts by the AU to take the necessary action to defend Libya was shameful and demoralizing.

There was a time…

Some of it in my lifetime, when we had visionary, principled and courageous African leaders – Shaka Zulu, Queen Nzingha, Cetshwayo, Dedan Kimathi, Julius Nyerere, Ahmed Sekou Toure, Kwame Nkrumah, Jamal Abdul Nasser, Marien Ngouabi, Ahmed Ben Bella, Samora Machel, Thomas Sankara, Murtala Muhammad, Laurent Kabila to name but a few. Had leaders such as these been in power today, NATO could not have gotten away with invading Libya. The fact is, with few exceptions, the current bunch of African leaders, many of them put in place by the forces of white supremacy were just not up to the job.

Those who are misleading Africa today – “who the cap fit let them wear it” – have paid a dear price. What is coming our way will be punishment for such a colossal betrayal. And sadly, we will all suffer for their sins.

Dr Ahmed Ibrahim, one of the foremost exponents of the Third Universal Theory, an intellectual warrior and committed Pan-Africanist, was captured while defending Sirte. The uncle of Moussa Ibrahim, who over the past months became known as the spokesperson for the legitimate government of Libya, he is currently being held in Misurata, and his son, Yurub Ibrahim, has also been arrested. The well known Islamic scholar Sheik Khaled Tantoush, has been abducted from his home in Sirte and is also being held in Misurata. These elderly men are being subjected to constant taunting, beatings and torture and their condition is deteriorating rapidly. Global campaigns have been launched to demand the protection under international law and conventions, regarding prisoners of war, for high profile prisoners Saif-al Islam Qaddafi, Abdullah Senussi, Ahmed Ibrahim, Khaled Tantoush and the thousands of prisoners held by the NTC. (see Libya 360°for ways you can assist the campaign and video footage of how these prisoners are being treated).

In addition to loyalty to the Leader, and defense of their country against foreign invaders, having black skin and asserting one’s Africanity has become a crime in the new Libya. Ethnic cleansing is continuing unabated. Every day Black Africans from Libya and other parts of Africa are hunted down. Thousands have been brutally tortured and executed. Rape of Black women is a favored weapon of NATO’s Islamists. Many of the female bodies found show signs of rape, beatings and torture. Large numbers of Black Africans make up the ranks of the Green Resistance."

NATO’s Living Hell

One Tripoli resident, who cannot be named, told me:

“Everyone is terrified of the NTC and their armed gangs. We have seen with our own eyes what they are capable of – they are animals. All around us people are being rounded up and imprisoned. We have no way of knowing how many have been murdered. Anyone who is associated with Qaddafi or suspected of loyalty to him is at risk. Even people who have worked for people who are known supporters of the leader have been rounded up and tortured. I personally know of many persons who were just working for people associated with the leader who have been taken away and never seen again. If you are black you are an immediate suspect – these rebels call black Libyans “abd” means slave and they are rounding them up just because they are black – it is making me sick and ashamed.

“What these rebels have done to their own people is disgusting – some of the acts of torture I can’t even speak about. There has been a lot of rape. I wept when I learned of what these animals did to the leader’s female bodyguards – they are not human and that is why there is so much fear. Any known Qaddafi loyalists who have not been able to get out of Libya have to stay underground. Libyans are afraid to talk to other Libyans – anyone could be an informer. It feels like the last days are upon us – Libya has been turned into a living hell.”

There is now a complete whiteout by the corporate media regarding all news from Libya. And of course, although a genocide is unfolding right before our eyes, there will be no outcry from the UN, Amnesty International or that euphemistic chorus known as “the international community.” that bleats on ad nauseum about ’democracy, human rights and the rule of law’? No time or motive for outcry – having shared the spoils, they have already moved on to their next victims – Syria and Iran.

Demons Unleashed

To do their dirty work, NATO employed the most barbaric marauders they could find. These Islamist mercenaries are programmed, sadistic fighters – they have been on the battlefields in Iraq, Afghanistan and now Libya. They have been hired many times over by NATO, who characteristically plays all sides, and that is why they need to sprinkle stimulant powders on their food – to keep them in killing mode.

Shouting Allahu Akhbar, like robots, they go from town to town, city to city, ransacking, beating, torturing, raping and murdering, and then, in their crazed state, with inflated feelings of omnipotence, they actually take footage of themselves committing heinous war crimes and post them on youtube.

"As the people bury their dead, they defiantly whisper, “Allah, Muammar, Libya and nothing else.” Amidst the screams that can be heard deep into the night, a shell shocked population tries to understand what happened to them, and struggles to come to terms with the obscene end inflicted on a man they loved. Now they must try to find a way to confront the ‘brave new world’ that has been imposed upon them by this foreign invasion. In an instant, they have been transported back in time to when Europeans last occupied their country."

Green Resistance – It is only a matter of time…

"The war in Libya is far from over. The corporate media continues the lie that Libya has been “liberated” and that life there has ‘returned to normal’. In truth, chaos reigns. Rumors about NATO’s plans to carve up the country are rife and Libya remains engulfed in warfare.

People are being systematically hunted down. Truck loads of bodies are being carted away, as the now feuding armed gangs, each with their own command structure, and none adhering to anything the NTC says, introduces the only policy they ever had – exterminate Qaddafi and all those loyal to him. That numbers in the millions and they are stopping at nothing to track them down.

The Green resistance referred to as the Libyan Liberation Army (LLA) or the Libyan Liberation Front (LLF) is regrouping and growing stronger by the day. Street battles are commonplace, explosions can be heard all over Tripoli and in other regions, and NATO’s mercenaries are facing fierce resistance."

Libya’s powerful Warfalla Tribe, comprising more than a million Libyans, have stated that “they are thirsting for revenge,” many of them having fought in the battle of Bani Walid.

One Green resistance fighter summed up the feeling of all:

"It does not matter how long it takes, we will rise again as sure as the sun rises. It is only a matter of time. It may not be today – we are a patient people. Right now, many of us have to lay low while the leaders regroup and put certain things in place so that we can take our resistance to the next level, but we know our time will come and we are only waiting for the word to take up our arms.

We have to be organized and this takes time, especially under the present conditions of occupation. Our people are being tortured and raped and murdered for supporting the leader and defending their revolution. We have had to leave our homes and watch these dogs destroy them and steal everything from us. But our day will come – we can never forget the crimes committed against us by NATO and these murdering thieves who call themselves revolutionaries and Muslims.

What I have seen with my own two eyes is unbelievable – people committing the cruelest acts – crimes against humanity while they cry out Allahu Akhbar. They are like drugged people. We have uncovered mass graves of Qaddafi loyalists – with their hands tied behind their backs – all executed. I want to tell them that every person they tortured, every person murdered, every woman they raped, every home they destroyed and looted and everything they did to our dear leader and his family will be avenged."

This is not the first time this has happened to us Libyans – this is exactly what happened to us when the Italians occupied our land – thanks to the leader we are a very educated people now – we know our history and our heroes. The NTC has already taken the picture of Omar Al Mukhtar off the Libyan dinar but it does not matter – they can destroy every picture of Omar Al Mukhtar and the leader, because the story of his bravery and the bravery of his son Muammar Qaddafi is in our hearts – these men can never die – and this gives us the belief and certainty that we will overcome these thieves again – believe me, it is only a matter of time.

A Frenzied Phase
The invasion of Libya and the murder of Muammar Qaddafi ushered in what can be described as the empire’s ‘frenzied phase’. Capitalism and imperialism are taking their last hideous gasps, and in this phase we will see their evil laid bare. NATO will continue to become ever more brazen with its ‘shock and horror’ tactics, believing that they are unstoppable and invincible, as once did Rome. In other words, with the imperialists in panic mode, we can expect their behavior to become all the more barbaric, savage and uncivilized, as has been prophesied.
The Twilight Zone – Vampires of Empire
The additional dimension in this new phase is that capitalism, White supremacy’s socio-economic system, has entered a period of unprecedented crisis – it is on its last legs and the system is turning in on itself. The vampires of empire do indeed “suck the blood of the sufferer.” They are desperate now and quite literally don’t care if they are seen to be dripping in our blood. Their global economic arrangement is crumbling faster than they can hold their next summit, and we cannot be caught off guard.
We have watched Europe and the US forestall their collapse for a number of years, to the point where they are frantic and fast running out of ideas. As fast as they share the spoils of one war – they need another to quench their insatiable appetite for plunder. Our trouble is, that many of us are too slow to follow the visionary leadership in their midst. Had African leaders shared the vision, united and worked together toward a United States of Africa as Qaddafi pleaded, the world would have been a very different place today. Muammar Qaddafi and the Libyan revolution were on the verge of bringing about a total shift in the global balance of power, and giving Africa its rightful place in the world. We have never been so close to reasserting African power. He was truly a Lion of Africa.
A Ruthless Enemy – Know Them
"The North Atlantic Tribes are an extremely ruthless enemy. It is necessary to study and understand their mentality in order to build an effective resistance. Indisputably, there is good and bad in every race. However, also indisputably, the historical and cultural continuum known as Europe has specificities that no other group on the face of this earth has demonstrated. Their will to dominate, consume and destroy is unparalleled".
Marimba Ani, in her seminal work, Yurugu, An Afrikan-Centered Critique of European Cultural Thought and Behavior, offers an incisive analysis of the European mindset. In her words:
“All modes of European behavior and dominant styles of action act to increase and ensure material control…The power ideology that defines the total culture keeps it off- balance. The culture itself – always “progressing,” never “progressed” – is unidirectional, one dimensional, fanatical, and atrophied; a culture that must consume others. But ultimately this ideology is incoherent; it literally lacks human meaning. It is the compulsiveness, the drive, the insatiable appetite of the culture that are its distinguishing features…it is as well-constructed as a power machine can be…For success it has sacrificed ‘soul’. What is left is profane. Aesthetically, and in terms of self-image, it identifies as white. Europe is the cultural home of a people who identify as one race; i.e., banding together for survival and destruction of others. They would destroy each other if there were not others to destroy. They fear and hate blackness, which they associate with spiritual power – a power which they can neither possess, create nor control.”
In White Racism: A Psychohistory, Joel Kovel describes this drive to conquer and destroy as a ‘cosmic yearning’, ‘a bottomless longing’.
Samuel Huntington, author of the Clash of Civilizations reminds us of something that we should never forget: “The West won the world not by the superiority of its ideas or values or religion, but rather by its superiority in applying organized violence.”
That is the reason why the enemy gets so agitated when we organize armed resistance, because they know how powerful organized violence can be.
Brother Leader warned us to “hold down our corners” because if they get past Libya they are coming for all of us.
The invasion of Libya and the murder of Qaddafi is what happened to a nation and its leader when they give up their program to develop “weapons of mass destruction” and opted for a path of peaceful coexistence. In an interview at the beginning of the war, Saif Qaddafi admitted that Libya had been caught “unprepared for war,” having not even upgraded their conventional weaponry. No nation will ever make that fatal mistake again. The North Atlantic Tribes can never be trusted. Deterrents of any kind are better than no deterrents at all
"The North Atlantic Tribes have mastered the art of war and perfected weaponry like no other peoples in history. They are the quintessential warlords."
In order to carry out this regrab, in their desperate and frenzied attempt to hasten their plunder of Africa and the global south’s wealth, it is imperative for the imperialists to get rid of all revolutionary nationalist regimes that might stand in their way, and ensure that compliant regimes are firmly in place. We must prepare ourselves for what is to come. In his last message, the Brother Leader warned us to “hold down our corners” because if they get past Libya they are coming for all of us. The challenge in this phase is to find ways to cope with the Empire’s collapse and to strengthen our resistance in order to confront the frantic and barbaric behavior which will inevitably characterize their demise.
Their House is Burning – Not Ours
At a global economic summit in 2009, former President of Brazil, Lula Da Silva, when commenting on the global economic crisis, stated, “This was a crisis that was fostered and boosted by the irrational behavior of people who were white and blue-eyed, who before the crisis looked like they knew everything about economics, but now have demonstrated they know nothing about economics.” He added, “The part of humanity that is responsible should be the part that pays for the crisis.”
Too many of us are still, as Malcolm X put it, “house negroes.” The house negro lived in the master’s house and when the master’s house was burning, he said “we house burning.” If the master was sick, the house negro said “we sick.” And then there was the field negro. When he saw the master’s house burning he said “Let it burn.”
In Africa, South America, the Caribbean and throughout the global south, we have been in crisis for centuries as a result of the imperialists endless thirst for domination, plunder and war. It is the master’s house that is burning this time. And we say – “let it burn.” The demise of this empire is a welcome thing. We don’t need to concern ourselves with bringing Babylon down, for it is surely crumbling – politically, economically, ideologically and morally, due to its own internal contradictions. In the meantime, as Muammar Qaddafi urged, ‘we must build the new as the old crumbles around us’. Only then can we be ready. It is not the end of the world – it is the end of their world.

Point is when you factor in more than 100,000 thousand disgruntled commuters multplied by the household, students and working rakyat, you get a humongous figure of lost votes. Trust me, I had that eerie feeling on the eve of GE 2008 on a sardine packed Komuter train.

Mind you, the routes extend from Kuala Kubu Bharu in Selangor to Seremban in Negri Sembilan and Batu Caves to Pelabuhan Kelang.

How did the opposition fare in Negri Sembilan in GE 12?

The Malaysian Insider's Freedom of Expression, the Internet and Defamation

I read that article in good faith. After all, the columnist, as is always credentialwise, credentialed -

"Amin Iskandar is a recipient of the Asian Public Intellectuals (API) award for 2009-2010 session."

That being, said, I question how such an intellectual like himself can say his peace about freedom of expression and quote,

"Malaysia mempunyai sejarah yang unik dalam isu kebebasan bersuara. Jika kita bandingkan kebebasan bersuara semenjak dari merdeka sehingga hari ini kita akan dapati grafnya semakin lama semakin menurun."

in a portal that denied* me their freedom of expression? Either he or The Malaysian Insider is a hypocrite.

I am no intellectual but I can safely say that is why Malaysia is in the very sad state of affairs the author laments.

This part of his article,

"Lebih aneh lagi mereka-mereka ini berbangga dengan penulisan yang menggunakan kata-kata kesat dan lucah Jika dikaji penulis-penulis sebegini kebiasaannya tidak berani mendedahkan identiti mereka."

is a real howler.

I guess the author had not really been down the gutters of his host's comment sections.

Anwar Ibrahim - A "Malaysia Spring" Disaster

This is one type of "spring" that Anwar will surely appreciate, a prison spring.

Of course, what the ex-Sungai Buloh resident alludes is the "Arab Spring".

A commentary by neocon John Hopkins fellow, "Neoconservatives and the Arab Spring", on the revolutions gives an invaluable insight to Neocon Israel nexus, Islamists, American styled democratic aspirations and consequences.

The commentary has numerous quotes relevant to this post but in the gamut of highbrowed observation, this teeny bit, is most apt,

"The net effect was to make the region less free, more violent, and poorer than it would have been."

At a forum "The Importance of Free Markets to Islam and Muslims" in 2005, Anwar tries to mitigate his role in Government and "exposes" misdeeds of Tun Mahathir in the handling of the Asian financial crisis of 1997, his sacking, trials and tribulations.

How can anyone give Anwar any credence when his hypocrisy is confirmed again in an answer during Q&A,

"This is also a problem, but if you have the institutions in place as seen in Indonesia—there are very strong Islamic parties; there are even Islamic parties that call for the formation of an Islamic state and the application of Shariah; they were allowed to contest. I wouldn’t agree with their position, but I must respect their right to espouse their view.Who, who are we to say, “Well, these groups can’t contest because they are Islamic and therefore does not conform to our thinking”? I mean, you are suppose to be a liberal—you talk about democracy—you allow them. But I believe that if you have institutions of civil society in place, clear constitutional provisions, and have a free media and have an open discourse, people will decide. In the Indonesian experience, people have decided for a moderate system of governance, wisely so. Even in the worst-case scenario (not necessarily to me), if an Islamic Party takes over power and applies some provisions of Islamic Law, you have a clear constitutional provision that allows for a latitude; beyond that it is transgressing the constitutional framework, which you cannot do. But even if they do it, then the next time around—the next 4 years—there will be elections where the people can endorse their rule or can topple their rule. Why must we have this phobia, as many Americans have? I fail to understand. I’m not saying that I support the other position; but I think to call yourself a liberal democrat as long as there is a free market, there’s freedom of expression, there’s freedom of religion—that is not to be compromised. Then it should be ok."

Hardcore Anwaristas and Pakatanis will accuse me of spinning, in my emphasis of his "Islamic state and the application of Shariah", that Anwar did not specifically state what he did not agree to.

There is no spin. At The Ismail Faruqi Award Presentation Ceremony in his International Islamic University Malaysia in February 1995, regarding PAS' Syariah Hudud laws, this is what Anwar pronounced,

"In the context of Malaysia today, this misconception is further compounded by the problem posed by those who, in their desire to gain political mileage, have called for the implementation of the hudud. It did not matter that the hudud laws they have drafted were not based strictly on established methodology of Islamic jurisprudence. Naturally the resultant Bill that was drafted contains serious contradictions and glaring defects in respect of such crucial matters as the scope of the crime, the nature of the evidence required as well as the punishment to be meted out. And worst, they have completely disregarded the paramount objectives of the Shariah itself. This is indeed a most retrograde move."

Also and therefore, Anwar's recent support for Hudud is "his desire to gain political mileage".

As for an Islamic state, would these diehard Anwaristas and Pakatanis dare to demand Anwar's position of an Islamic state for Malaysia? Please demand it now.

I am very sure Pakatanis of the DAP kind will be more than interested to know Anwar's stand, being anointed Prime Minister elect of a Pakatani Government by the DAP Secretary General himself, Lim Guan Eng.

The revolution in Libya is now "complete". War drums are now pounding for Syria and Iran, an extension of the "Arab Spring" for "freedom and democracy".

Many are condemned as "conspiracy theorists" when they claim that "Arab Spring" is nothing more than US, and now NATO aggression in Libya, to topple regimes are purely for the control of oil.

The failure to produce a single weapon of mass destruction, being the reason for the war monger Bush to invade Iraq, is ample ammunition for the many "conspiracy theorists".

Many will recall the Asian financial crises of 1997 and the Malaysian solution which vindicated Tun Mahathir. This gave rise to the Tun mooting Gold Dinar as a currency for trade to prevent currency speculation of the Soros kind.

That Anwar adopted IMF solutions for the crisis and his close association with Wolfowitz is well documented. One such document 29 Apr 2005 by Mike Billington, "Malaysia’s Anwar Ibrahim: Wolfowitz’s Knife in Asia’s Back" in the Executive Intelligence Review,

Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad, refused to subject its population to IMF dictates. Nonetheless, Dr. Mahathir at first allowed Anwar, who was then his Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, to follow his personal preference for what became know as “IMF policies without the IMF”: across the board austerity, interest rate hikes, and the cancellation of major infrastructure projects.

Even Anwar cannot deny this because at that "The Importance of Free Markets to Islam and Muslims" forum he admittedly acknowledged,

"So, the allegations that we, I in particular, had to resort to the IMF and World Bank is a lie. We did not. At no time did we apply or appeal to the World Bank or IMF for funds, because we had the funds."

But I cannot recall anyone accusing Anwar or Malaysia appealing or applying for IMF aid. Can anyone?

Again this is part and parcel of Anwar's specialty, distorting facts.

That being said, there are a lot of beguiling information and admission from Anwar of his actions, in that forum.

Mike Billinton on 12 Sep 2008, wrote another piece on Anwar, "British Empire Tool To Recolonize Malaysia", detailing Anwar's neoconnections.

You would be wondering by now what the Gold Dinar got to do with the "Arab Spring".

Accuse me of having "conspiracy" theories but I too held the opinion that "Arab Spring" are US hegemonistic designs to control or exert control over oil producing Arab lands.

Iraq, 4th, Libya 7th and Iran 3rd in oil reserves of the top ten oil producing countries where all are US dominant Arab countries except Venezuela 2nd and Nigeria 10th, surely supports this hypothesis.

Venezuela having a rough ride with the US cannot be of coincidence.

That is the general "conspiracy" theory expounded.

But it is too simplistic.

There is another more sinister but coherent reason for US expedient control of oil.

One which Tun Mahathir may have been cognisant to.

Giving a very thorough history of the US dollar worthiness here at Energy Bulletin, Dr Krassimir Petrov writes "The Iranian Oil Exchange Proposal And The Demise Of The Dollar" asserting in much detail, that it is not oil per se that the US need control over but the continued use of US dollars for it's trade,

"In 1971, as it became clearer and clearer that the U.S Government would not be able to buy back its dollars in gold, it made in 1972-73 an iron-clad arrangement with Saudi Arabia to support the power of the House of Saud in exchange for accepting only U.S. dollars for its oil. The rest of OPEC was to follow suit and also accept only dollars. Because the world had to buy oil from the Arab oil countries, it had the reason to hold dollars as payment for oil.

Because the world needed ever increasing quantities of oil at ever increasing oil prices, the world's demand for dollars could only increase. Even though dollars could no longer be exchanged for gold, they were now exchangeable for oil."

Dr Krassimir also gives a convincing reason as to why Saddam Hussein and Iraq was deemed dangerous,

"The man that actually did demand Euro for his oil was Saddam Hussein in 2000. At first, his demand was met with ridicule, later with neglect, but as it became clearer that he meant business, political pressure was exerted to change his mind. When other countries, like Iran, wanted payment in other currencies, most notably Euro and Yen, the danger to the dollar was clear and present, and a punitive action was in order."
"Indeed, this is the case: two months after the United States invaded Iraq, the Oil for Food Program was terminated, the Iraqi Euro accounts were switched back to dollars, and oil was sold once again only for U.S. dollars. No longer could the world buy oil from Iraq with Euro."

Muammar Gaddafi made a similar fatal mistake. "Gold, Oil, Africa and Why the West Wants Gadhafi Dead",

"Muammar Gadhafi's decision to pursue gold standard and reject dollars for oil payments may have sealed his fate."

"Observers say implementing that vision would change the world power equation and threaten Western hegemony. In response, the United States and its NATO partners have determined “Gadhafi must go,” and assumed the role of judge, jury and executioner."

Will it also be fatal for Iran? Dr Krassimir Petrov provides,

The Iranian government has finally developed the ultimate "nuclear" weapon that can swiftly destroy the financial system underpinning the American Empire. That weapon is the Iranian Oil Bourse slated to open in March 2006. It will be based on a euro-oil-trading mechanism that naturally implies payment for oil in Euro.

There is no denying that the former Deputy Prime Minister now anointed PM elect, has a wide network of influential crony buddies, top of which is another eX, ex-World Bank chief Paul "the wolf" Wolfowitz. Also among his eX buddies is fraudster ex-Vice President Al "reformasi" Gore.

Anwar, being the Anwar who would do anything to realize his cherished dream to be Prime Minister, incurred the wrath of the powerful American Jewish lobby B'nai B'rith International, with his 1Malaysia slogan being 1Israel antics in Parliament.

Probably, with that ending any hope of American support from his neoconnection for an "Arab Spring" in Malaysia.

And if the preservation of the US dollar, the execution of Gaddafi and Saddam Hussein also supports the construct, is the true agenda for "Arab Spring" revolutions, what more with Anwar's open support for Hudud, hence his "Malaysian Spring".

Be that as it may, conspiracy theories or otherwise, Anwar Ibrahim "Malaysia Spring" in the words of Chandra Muzaffar, for us would be "an unmitigated disaster".

DAP - Desperados Are Precipitating

Datuk Rocky's "DAP seeks New Delhi's intervention" prompted me to revisit the MALAYSIA: General Elections 2008 - An Analysis ,

In most of the previous elections the bulk of the Indian community has been supporting the ruling coalition despite the poor image of the Malaysian Indian Congress amongst the Indians. It was felt that the ethnic Indians, being just 8% of the total population, can not cause much ripples in the overall outcome of the elections.

However this time the impact has been definitely felt. According to a media report, backing from the Indians for the ruling coalition had plummeted from 82 percent to 47percent. The MIC, which had a track record of winning almost all the parliamentary and state seats contested, has been annihilated in this election.

The party managed to retain only 3 of the 9 parliamentary seats and 6 of the 19 state seats it contested. The President of the MIC (Samy Vellu), Deputy President, two Vice Presidents, the Youth chief and Women’s wing chief lost in the election.

One major contributing factor for the debacle of the Indian party was the advent of the Hindu Rights Action Force and their demonstration on 25 November 2007, that rocked Malaysia and brought the plight of ethnic Indians to the attention of the international media. The handling of this demonstration and subsequent follow up action by the MIC added fuel to the fire.

The Indian community that had faithfully supported BN all thru these years since Merdeka had deserted the ruling party in 2008.

Whether Hindraf can lay claim for that ripple effect is moot. But what is an undeniable fact is that it contributed to the opposition gains.

Thus by 2010, Hindraf now the Human Rights Party, began chastising the Pakatanis, "Pakatan has failed the Indians, says Uthayakumar",

“We’ve sent letters to Opposition leaders Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, Kedah Menteri Besar Azizan Abdul Razak and Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, informing them that we would be here today, at 11.30am, to discuss our issues,” Uthayakumar told reporters.

“We are very disappointed that they’re not here today. Their absence reflects their refusal to solve our problems.”

Indian community support for BN is returning. The Merlimau and Kerdau by-elections confirms this, heavily leaning opposition portal Malaysiakini in "Dissecting BN's twin wins in by-election",

Merlimau

An increase in the Malay, Chinese and Indian vote of approximately 3%, 1% and 50% respectively gives us the Malay, Chinese and Indian support levels for BN at 74%, 61% and 82% respectively, delivering slightly over 72% of the popular vote and a vote majority of slightly under 3,700 votes, not far from the actual results.

Kerdau

According to Table 2, the increase in BN’s share of the popular vote in the only non-Malay majority polling station - Kerdau - was 13.5%. This increase is consistent with an increase in the Malay (6%), Chinese (10%) and Indian (20%) support for BN in this polling station.

The analysis concludes,

"the swing in the Indian vote back to the BN, which is a more recent phenomenon, continues to pick up steam. Depending on the magnitude of the swing from 2004 to 2008, the expected swing in the Indian support for the BN could be anywhere from 20% to 50%."

The Indian community have come to realise the Pakatanis are more opportunistic rather than having genuine concerns for their welfare, either in that revelation by Uthayakumar or the Kampung Buah Pala issue, which is proof of the DAP broken promises to the community.

The DAP must have not taken Uthayarkumar's statement too kindly, and with the Indian community support returning to BN fold, accused ‘Racist Uthayakumar a BN agent’.

It comes as no surprise then that the DAP, by it's token Indian MPs needed to shore up Indian support by yet another publicity stunt which they are well known for, hence the meeting with the BJP officials as posted by Datuk Rocky.

And copycatting Hindraf for good measure.

At the height of the Hindraf demonstrations, one of India most popular youth portals, The Viewspaper, in an article had this to say,

"The protests have aroused considerable public and political interest in India. With Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Karunanidhi asking the union government to interfere and help the Tamils. Now I am no foreign affairs expert but in my opinion, the Indian government should restrict itself to expressing its concern for the ethnic Indians purely because the issue is an internal issue of Malaysia and the Malaysian government should tackle it. The Indian government should respect the sovereignty of the Malaysian government and its laws however discriminatory they may be. Moreover, the Tamils are not even claiming to be NRIs (Non Resident Indians) or PIOs (Persons of Indian Origin). That they are demanding for a share in the national wealth (of Malaysia) is proof enough that they consider themselves Malaysian nationals and not Indian nationals."

The above should be a lesson in education to these two DAP acolytes in Delhi and for DAP Secretary General Lim Guan Beng, I would suggest "Panchsheel".

RapidKL Full Integration LRT Ticketing - An Unpleasant Experience of the Beautiful Kind

I normally use the overhead bridge from the CIMB bank opposite SOGO, which leads to the Ampang Line Bandaraya station, to get to the Bank Negara KTM Komuter station and had noticed a booth actively promoting MyRapid Cards.

Thinking nothing much about it as I do not use the either the Ampang or Kelana LRT lines regularly, you could say that I did not take any interest to find out more about what was being promoted and why.

I do use the Kelana line LRT from time to time, from the Wisma Jamek station to Bangsar where my younger sister stays but not too often as to require a season pass.

Today was one of those days.

As a routine to do my monthly banking chores, needing to cash out and bank in, using three banks, Bangsar was convenient as two banks were nearby my sisters place after I had checked my other bank balance at the Wisma Jamek or Bangsar LRT station.

Getting to the point, as said today was one of those days but unfortunately the ATM kiosk at Wisma Jamek was not accessible until I had purchased a ticket because it was now fenced in after the turnstile entrance.

It was about 7.15pm and the Mrs had called me earlier in the morning that she would be at my sister's house in Bangsar.

So no problem because I was going to get a ticket anyway and I proceeded to one of three new ticket dispensing machines two meters away, those that I also noticed at the Bandaraya Ampang line LRT station mentioned.

Waiting in queue and as fate would have it with no small change, only a ten ringgit bill, the electronic board on the machine at my line showed that it was for exact change only.

Glancing at the other two machines which the electronic board showed was for notes and shillings, I queued again at one of these two. In the meantime I had changed my ten ringgit note with another queue-ee for two 5 ringgit notes, just in case.

At my turn upon touching the screen, shit. At the bottom right of the screen were images of 100, 50, 10 and 5 ringgit bills marked with red "X" and 1 and 2 ringgit bills unmarked. What it meant was that the dispensing machine were only accepting 1 and 2 ringgit notes.

The person behind then said that I could get a ticket at the counter.

I was pissed by now and went over to the counter where there was another queue and directly to the counter personnel who was attending to the line of people purchasing tickets.

Knocking on the glass panel and speaking through a few small holes, I asked to see the Manager. The person at the counter just gave a cursory look at me and continued serving people. On a loud shout from me he just answered "sudah keluar" without any enquiry for my request.

You bet, I started to raise my voice. Okay, I was shouting to see the Manager. I am never one just accepting fate when fate frowns unfortunately. I will not take it sitting down or standing up.

In the midst of all this, along came a neatly dressed gentleman who politely asked me to calm down. I did not. Initially. I told the gentleman that nothing was right. That there were no signs around to guide people on an obvious new system. That even the dispensing machines were not accurately programmed. That in the front of my previous queue, an elderly lady had to get the person in front of her to assist to use the dispensing machine.

I told the gentleman that there should be some personnel at the machines to guide people.

He said that that was why he was there the past two hours to sort out issues.

This gentleman then apologised and told me that what had happened was unacceptable to him. He offered to help get my ticket. He asked my name and gave me his calling card.

I honestly had no intention to get any sort preference over others queueing.

I told the gentleman what I always tell many many others, we have everything in the world, in Malaysia. It is people that screw things up.

Saying that he understood me being upset and that he was looking into matters, he asked a Rapid staff to get me my ticket.

As it turned out it was a token, literally speaking. Like those parking tokens instead of tickets.

While waiting for the "ticket"* I looked at his calling card.

I apologised to the gentlement. I had no intention in making a big hue and cry. I said that sometiimes, in Malaysia, you need to shout to get attention.

I offered my hand with some degree of remorse.

At dinner I sent the gentleman an e-mail in thanks, praise and another apology for making such a row. He replied almost immediately saying that it was him that should apologise.

What was happening at all RapidKL stations, I found out advertently, was for this post. I guess I have not been in the loop.

RapidKL had yesterday started it's full integration of ticketing, for both the Ampang and Kelana lines which had a separate ticketing system for the last 12 years, two days ahead of schedule.

The New Straits Times reports Prasarana Group Managing Director, Dato' Shahril Mokhtar,

"I am happy to announce that response for the new AFC integrated ticketing system has been good.

"On that note, I would like to express my sincere thanks and gratitude to the commuters for their support and kind consideration.

"In this process of transition, there had been teething problems and congestion because of reduced gates as we need to keep both systems running.

"On behalf of Prasarana, I would like to offer my apologies."

Yes, there are some teething problems to overcome. I am absolutely sure it will be resolved. That, I have no doubt.

The ticket integration will be a success.

You see, when I read that polite and unassuming gentleman's business card, it was... Dato Shahril Mokhtar, Group Managing Director, Syarikat Prasarana Negara Berhad.

1MDB - Dubious Allegations

For those who are uninitiated with 1MDB as I was, read Blogger Spanking Da Monkey's The Spanker’s Guide To 1MDB For Idiots".

The monkey was spanked yesterday "Why people repeat lies" because 1MBD is another commendable and encouraging initiative by the Govt which will positively impact the economy by way of development and foreign investments, suffice it becomes a target by the usual suspects to discredit the Govt.

1MDB had been the target of who else, the sexual controversy plagued individual, way back in April this year and in June had "Anwar reveals more 'dubious dealings' involving 1MDB".

The PAC has been tasked to look into 1DMB affairs and has an initial report that there has been no loss incurred.

Anwar had previously claimed "accounting fraud" in April and watered down to become "dubious" in June. That in itself would impress upon anyone that it is nothing more than spin.

In the middle of all the innuendos is PetroSaudi International.

Let's start from the Saudi corporation's entrance into the Malaysian scene, the Star "Saudis to come in with RM6bil investment",

LONDON: PetroSaudi, a global private investment company owned by the Saudi royal family, is expected to invest billions of ringgit in Malaysia.

The international oil exploration and production company has indicated interest to invest over US$2bil (RM6.2bil) in the infrastructure and energy sectors.

The company already has an RM8.7bil joint venture with 1Malaysia Development Bhd, a wholly Government-owned firm, which acts as a vehicle for Middle East investments in Malaysia.

The joint venture is expected to focus on global strategic assets in petroleum-related industries, renewable energy and power, for the benefit of lowering the cost of energy in Malaysia.

“Ultimately, the bulk of the capital and returns will be reinvested in Malaysia,” said banking sources.

The sources said PetroSaudi is also eyeing significant direct investment in Malaysia’s Islamic banking sector.

Details are not immediately available but the sources said discussions were on-going which would feature Malaysia in the roadmap of Islamic banking.

“Over the next few months, exciting developments will take place to boost Malaysia’s position, especially participation from long-term Middle-Eastern investors,” said a government source.

Cash rich PetroSaudi, founded by the Saudi royal family with Tarek Essam Ahmad Obaid leading the charge, has been snapping up value investments.

Last week, it acquired Malaysian builder UBG Bhd for RM1.5bil by raising its stake to 89.8% after its three stakeholders agreed to sell the company and its two subsidiaries.

At the same time, PetroSaudi also leased a US$2.5bil (RM7.7bil) platform to Venezuela’s state oil company, Petroleos de Venezuela SA as announced by Venezuela’s Energy Minister.

The platform will be used to develop offshore natural gas resources in the country, which has the most natural gas reserves in South America.

Saudi sources said Tarek, a partner of Renault F1 team, had a positive impression of Malaysia with support from the Saudi royal family, whose relationship with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is at an all-time high.

In January, Najib was awarded the King Abdul Aziz Order of Merit (Ist Class) by King Abdullah Abdulaziz Al Saud, the first Asian leader to be given the honour.

The highest Saudi civilian award was also given to US President Barack Obama when he visited the country last year.

“The relationship between King Abdullah and Najib is important.

“It has been crucial in the support showed by the Saudis, initially through PetroSaudi and more substantial foreign direct investiment is expected,” the Saudi sources added.

The sources said yesterday that key members of the Saudi royal family were expected to visit Malaysia over the next three months when several major announcements would be made.

In Kuala Lumpur, analysts say the US$2bil from PetroSaudi International Ltd is expected to provide a boost to the domestic economy.

A bank-backed analyst believed that the investment from the Arab country would pave the way for more capital inflow from the Gulf.

“It (investment from PetroSaudi) will bring a positive spill-over to other sectors of the economy.

“It will provide positive reverberations for Malaysia’s real economy,” another analyst said without elaborating.

A power analyst expects the oil exploration and production company to invest in the energy sector, given the opportunity in the green energy sector and that the Government was promoting green energy.

PetroSaudi is a privately held firm incorporated in the Seychelles in 2000 by Tarek Essam Ahmad Obaid and other private investors. According to foreign news reports, PetroSaudi is chaired by Prince Turki bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the son of the current ruler of Saudi Arabia, who also co-founded PetroSaudi with Obaid

Any Tom, Dick and Harry can come to a simple and obvious conclusion that "money lending" to PetroSaudi would be akin to selling petrol to the Saudis, ludicrous.

The deal to sign a JV was on 30 September 2009, "PetroSaudi International Limited and 1Malaysia Development Berhad in US$2.5 billion joint-venture partnership, opens new door to FDIs". By January PetroSaudi had ventured into the Stock Market and for ownership of UBG, parent to 2 prominent construction and development companies, Putrajaya Perdana and Loh & Loh.

Surely one can see why these usual critics are desirous to tarnish the Govt with dubious allegations. These are Govt initiatives bearing fruit and would put the Govt in good stead come the next GE.

Catholics Will Not Support Barisan Nasional

As the opposition parties are gearing up their election machinery for the upcoming GE 13 so are their rabid sycophants within the Catholic community.

Subtly, ingraining by practising in Church masses, a past contentious issue.

Well, at least at my parish and another which shares the same parish priest.

This contentious issue, those in the SFX parish must surely admit, had been actively promulgated in the past, by a particular priest. This priest, I can attest for a fact, had been very vocal in church masses ever since the Anwar Ibrahim Sodomy I debacle.

In that 1999 election year, a completely Parti Keadilan poster emblazoned van was allowed to be parked prominently within the church compound entrance of SFX, during the election period. I found that extremely irresponsible and detestable.

Coming back to the present time. The political psy-war, reminding religious "repression", is beginning.

All Saints' Day mass in my parish, 1 November - reciting Lamb of God in Bahasa Malaysia.

The very next week, a hymn - in Bahasa Malaysia, at another parish but sharing my parish priest.

I had delayed putting up this post but I can do so no longer.

This last Sunday, the other parish in a more affluent part of Kuala Lumpur nearby, had this priest just like all opposition zombies (not the parish priest and I find it a strange "coincidence" they are all not of the parish) giving a sermon heavily political in the guise religious parallelism.

I will not mention what could be considered a very seditious remark in that sermon but suffice, by his warped opposition mentality, to ask what has PPSMI got anything to do with religion?

According to this opposition political adhering priest, decisions on this issue is "playing God".

Digressing but pertinently, in a personal conversation with a very prominent blogger of him wanting to do an article on Christian sermons, he explained to me that all sermons (khutbah) in mosques had to get clearance from the religious authorities. He asked me whether it was the same for Christian sermons. I cannot confirm then or now.

If priests and Bishops would want a hand and say in politics, I say how hypocritical. They neither protest nor condone the Merdeka Sexuality hoopla but get caught in between a rock and a hard place and resort to "nuances" which to me is more doublespeak,

"However, Bishop Paul Tan said he felt constrained to caution campaigners against the mistreatment of people with with an unconventional sexual orientation about pushing their stance to the extent it paves the way for the legitimisation of ‘queer’ behaviour."

“A wise circumspection is needed when importing the western human rights agenda lock, stock and barrel into our context,” he opined.

“There has emerged in our society a broad consensus transcending race and religion on issues of human rights - on their urgency, legitimacy and desirability,” he added.

“This consensus was long in the making and was painstakingly gained. For this reason, nothing ought to be done that would imperil this consensus arriving at its culmination in a more just and equitable Malaysia,” he elaborated

Is it any wonder priests of the lower order are given licence to engage in politics
when the Bishop can take a shot at Govt,

"Catholic Bishop Dr Paul Tan Chee Ing has expressed regret over the police ban of Seksualiti Merdeka workshop, saying it was another reflection of the manacles the powers-that-be wanted the Malaysia mind to be confined within."

because yes, Reverend father Bishop Paul Tan, Merdeka Sexuality must not be banned. But no, the Church will not support and "caution campaigners against the mistreatment of people with an unconventional sexual orientation about pushing their stance to the extent it paves the way for the legitimisation of ‘queer’ behaviour."

What I find revolting is when these opposition political campaigns are being pursued and preached in Church in the guise of quest for social reforms. They are obviously not. Not in the manner these priests would like to have us believe. It is their political proclivity that is speaking, not of men of the cloth.

I do not care if it is for or against the Govt. For or against any political party.

Funny that politically laced sermons have never had anything good to say about the Govt. Meaning if priests see it fit to criticise the Govt, by the same token should not the Govt be commended, when commendableness is due?

One such example is the Govt stand on Hudud.

Politically motivated or otherwise, non-Mulims are relieved by the Govt's stand, Christians especially cannot deny this.

Conveniently, matters like the Merdeka Sexuality and the Hudud issue would not find it's way into any sermon in Church. All practising Catholics, support or at least welcome, the Govt's decision to ban this sexuality workshop or whatever it may be.

The same can be said of the Govt's position on Hudud.

We all know where Bishop Paul Tan stands on this.

"Top Catholic bishop tells non-Muslims to support hudud in Kelantan", Harakahdaily, if you don't.

So, if Bishop and priests are actively but subtly telling Catholics the Govt is bad, it will not come as a surprise that Catholics will not support Barisan Nasional in the next 13th GE.

Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil has come under a lot of flack by transactions deemed unrelated to the business of the National Feedlot Corporation which is run by her husband and family.

No matter what rationale or justifications for the purchase of 2 condominiums, instead of the reported one unit, the explanations by husband of Shahrizat and Chairman of NFC, Datuk Seri Dr Mohamad Salleh, has come not only too little but most glaringly too late.

Even though the purchase was exposed by the opposition, UMNO politicians jumping in to defend the cattle project, made it what it was intended to be - politicized.

The board of the NFC, the Shahrizat family, should have immediately come out with any clarification in the matter.

After all, for whatever intention the opposition had in exposing the purchase, isn't that the duty of elected representatives to bring to public attention issues that concern taxpayers money?

For example in the 7 month bonus for PKNS company affiliated employees, it was the spokesman for the PKNS Board that came out with the justification, not political personalities in a political role.

It should have been the same in this NFC instance.

I had severely criticised Penang CM Lim Guan Eng on his lackadaisical or no response in a matter that would have elicited an immediate response and action by any right thinking responsible parent, an allegation of molest by their child.

As in the present NFC affair, it was members of the DAP that came out to defend the alleged perpetrator, instead of the parents themselves, Lim Guan Eng and wife Betty Chew.

In my previous post I said the Ah Beng Penang chief Minister, Lim Guan Eng, "acts as though Penang is his grandfather's property."

For all his grandiose announcements, from reports coming in fast and furious, he is just getting cheap propaganda.

The Star report today is revealing, "CM: No more land reclamation in Gurney Drive"

"Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said any land swap would only involve the existing land reclamation rights granted to Eastern & Oriental Bhd by the previous administration."

He even went as far as to say,

"I told the reporters in Kuala Lumpur that 299ha of reclaimed land in Sri Tanjung Pinang would be involved in the infrastructure projects."

He said no monetary payment or funding would be given by the state for the construction of three by-pass highways and a sea tunnel linking the island to the mainland.

“Costs incurred may be recovered through land swap, toll or any other form. The other three projects would involve land swapping. I’m trying to get as much as possible for Penang,” he said

That makes the whole scenario complicated in more ways than one but definitely shows it is all bluster by the Ah Beng Chief Minister.

How do you swap land that is being developed by Eastern & Oriental Bhd,

“Phase two will be a mixed integrated development comprising two islands of approximately 740 acres in size. At three times the size of phase one, phase two is expected to generate RM12bil in gross development value,” Chan told StarBiz

*"There is a strange and common political activity in Chinese organisations, associations and societies recently, for there is a concerted plan by an organised group to get the Chinese to come out in support of PAS in the next general elections.

The people behind this campaign were the ones who, in the 2008 general elections, supported a Pakatan Rakyat strategy of ‘Attack into the Pakatan to rectify the Pakatan’. This 2008 strategy has proved to be a great failure, for it not only failed to rectify the Pakatan Rakyat in its nation-building policies, the Malaysian Chinese find that their political, economic, educational, social, cultural and religious rights never experienced such unprecedented and wide-ranging erosion in 8 years since 2003 as compared to the 46 years from 1957 to 2003.

*For the coming general elections, these people have a new strategy, to support PAS, purportedly to ‘change government’.

These people had brought ‘disaster’ to the people in the 2008 general elections because of their catastrophic strategy. What is there to ensure that this new strategy of theirs, to mobilise Chinese support for PAS to the extent of even fighting other Chinese, would not be even more disastrous and datastrophic than their 2008 gambit?

These people must be the only non-Muslims in the world who are openly advocating the Islamic State concept of PAS. These people are not bothered or concerned about the meaning of an Islamic State, but only interested in supporting PAS in the urban areas to split the Chinese voters, either the DAP or PKR candidates.

*These people are not bothered that in an Islamic state, non-Muslims cannot be entrusted with the responsibility of framing the general policy of the State, or dealing with matter vital to its safety and integrity; and cannot be Members of Parliament, Assemblymen, Ministers, Prime Minster’ or even be top government officials or judges.

*These people are not bothered that in an Islamic State, the present Constitution would have to be scrapped, replaced by an Islamic Constitution based on the Koran, and where only Muslims can interpret and amend the Constitution.

*These people are not bothered that in an Islamic State, the people will cease to have the voting rights as at present, for in an Islamic State, non-Muslims cannot vote to influence the national direction or the laws. This is because in an Islamic State, power is no more derived from the people (as at present) but from the Koran!

These people are only interested in giving support to the PAS struggle of an Islamic State so long as in the urban areas, it would split Chinese voters to enable DAP and PKR candidates to win by default!

Although these people want the Chinese organisations, associations and societies to support the PAS in the next general elections, on the ground that with such support PAS could translate its present few Members of Parliament a greater number of MPs in next general elections to form the next national government, you must believe it.

These people do not believe it themselves, for all they want is to deny Barisan Nasional from winning and to help PAS or PKR candidates. PAS does not believe it, but it does the Islamic party no harm to have a group of very enthusiastic non-Muslim Chinese running around in Chinese society selling the PAS’ objective of an Islamic State even though only by a Pakatan Rakyat consensus.

The PKR is not very upset, for it is sure of forming the next government, with the BN chances in the next general elections undermined by these group of PAS supporters in the Chinese community.

In fact, if the Malaysian Chinese demonstrate that they give some measure of support to the PAS’ struggle of an Islamic State in the coming general elections, when PAS together with PKR comes to power, it would have the justification and opportunity to seriously implement an Islamic State in Malaysia after the polls.

We must not forget that there are also people in PKR who want to establish an Islamic State. Voices calling for an Islamic State is not only heard from PAS, but also from inside PKR, demanding the replacement of the present Malaysian Constitution with an Islamic Constitution.

*In September 1985, when opening a seminar on Concept of the Islamic State in Petaling Jaya, the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohamed, said that the creation of an Islamic State would take tens of years, and the first step would be to make Islam the official religion.

If these strategists succeed in getting some Chinese electoral support for PAS, the PAS or PAS-sponsored candidate wins (and even worst, cause the Barisan to lose), it will be a signal to Pas and those in PKR that it could shorten the time span for establishment of an Islamic State in Malaysia.

When this happens, who is to blame but the Chinese and these ‘election strategists’ who want the Chinese to support PAS against the Barisan, and who in 2008, wanted the voters to support the opposition against BN?

I would call on these people who are working for the PAS cause for the coming general elections to come out openly to explain to the Malaysian Chinese community why they are supporting the cause of an Islamic State in Malaysia. Can they also support an Islamic State by the PAS/PKR Government after the next general elections?"

Sexcapades of an individual in politics are nothing new.

and PKR party election irregularities,

“That’s why I took strong objection to PKR. If the conduct of your own party elections is questionable, then how are you going to run the country? The electoral irregularities were known at the highest level in PKR. How can that be tolerated?

Yes, at the rate they are going, it is no wonder Ambiga now takes her defunct cause overseas. She can also count on the the media there to be "truthful".

A popular saying "lightning never strikes the same place twice". It must either be "conspiracies" or he must be an unluckiest person this side of the planet.

I do hope he gets off Sodomy II though that will not be fair for the complainant if the allegations were true. Then, Anwar will not have any excuse to exploit his plight, "he predicted that the opposition would be boosted even if he is convicted".

BN can easily engage him on any issue. For example name one good thing that Anwar has accomplished.

Aziz Bari - PAS Participle

Everyone has a political inclination or an opinion and are free to express them in any way they choose.

It is unbecoming and unacceptable when a person in a non-political position, especially and normally those in positions of note, uses that position to make questionable pronouncements which are motivated by political predispositions.

I have even questioned my own Bishop if such were the case.

Aziz Bari can argue till the cows come home but he cannot escape the political orientation for his actions.

I have posted twice his close association with PAS and will now validate political motive for his academic expressions.

Aziz Bari uses Islamic teachings rather than Islamic Syaria Law, when these elements are distinct by themselves, to support his criticism of HRM Sultan Selangor's decree in the DUMC affair.

Let's look at closely the statements which has resulted in Aziz Bari being in his present predicament.

Quote: "Menurutnya, sebagai ketua agama Islam di negeri itu, baginda mempunyai hak untuk campurtangan tetapi ini perlu dijalankan selaras dengan ajaran Islam."

Translation: According to him, as head of Islam in Selangor, his majesty has the right to intervene but it must be done according to Islamic teachings.

Aziz affirms that as head of Islam HRH Sultan Selangor has the rightful authority to intervene but qualifies it by saying the right must be dispensed in line with Islamic teachings.

HRH the Sultan decreed on the basis of the JAIS report enforcing enacted Syaria laws, not Islamic teachings.

It gives an impression that HRH Sultan Selangor does not follow Islamic teachings.

Conspicous is his use of the word "campurtangan" because it could mean intervene or interfere.

It is cynical.

I will use "intervene" in the translations rather than "interfere" which has a negative connotation by any definition.

Quote:“Seseorang akan berfikir sama ada dengan meletakkan umat Kristian dalam kedudukan itu - sesuatu yang tidak dapat dielakkan berikutan serbuan ke atas DUMC - adalah benar-benar mengikut ajaran Islam."

Translation: People will think (or jump to conclusions) that whether putting the Christians in that position, something that could not be avoided following the raid on DUMC, truly follows Islamic teachings.

This statement is totally incoherent or deliberately ambiguous.

Contextually, one can only guess what exactly he is alluding to. The secular position of Christians, JAIS entering a non-Muslim religious DUMC premise, the raid was unlawful, the manner of the raid?

Or the position the DUMC find themselves in ie unable to respond to an Islamic decree, that there was evidence of protelysing, issued by the HRH Sultan Selangor?

In the absence of elaboration and specifics, it is apparent that statement gives a perception that the whole aspect of the JAIS action and by extension the HRH Sultan Selangor decree supporting the JAIS action, is not in compliance with Islamic teaching.

JAIS had acted within their authority by Syaria laws enacted in Selangor,

"Selangor’s Non-Islamic Religions (Control of Propagation Amongst Muslims) Enactment, which outlines offences deemed as acts of proselytisation by non-Muslims towards Muslims, grants the religious authorities powers to launch investigations and arrest individuals without producing a warrant.

He refers to Islamic teachings which he is specific. He is not referring to Syaria law.

He is not specific in what it was that was not in line with Islamic teachings.

Is Aziz Bari deeming Selangor Syaria laws do not abide by Islamic teachings?

There must not be any ambiguity on his part.

The politics of Aziz Bari unravels.

Now of course, it must be made clear here, that statements are direct extracts from that Malaysiakini report but Aziz did not correct anything nor made any clarification in a follow up report.

That being said, "campurtangan istana dalam perlembagaan negara amat jarang sekali" - palace intervention in (of) the Federal Constitution is very rare, does that make any sense in either language?

Palace "intervening" or even "interfering" in or of the Federal Constitution?

So off goes Aziz jumping to the Federal Constitution? Why not? Make HRH Sultan's decree seemingly going against the Federal Constitution.

The HRH Sultan Selangor decree was made after due consideration of the JAIS report as Head of Islam which Aziz himself admits HRH has a right to exercise. The decree does not impinge any article of the Federal Constitution.

Worse is implying that it does.

What he is actually and sorely referring to is the appointment of the Selangor state secretary, which he touches upon only later on, not the matter at hand in which Aziz is embroiled, the DUMC affair.

Two altogether different issues and circumstances rolled into one to give the impression that HRH is a serial transgressor of the Federal Constitution.

Typical political grandstanding of the opposition kind.

Critically, he implies that HRH is not being scrupulous.

Quote: "Sebelum ini, pernah terjadi kejadian yang lebih teruk seperti bekas menteri besarnya merobohkan surau tertentu di Selangor. Tetapi pihak istana tidak campurtangan,” katanyanya dalam satu kenyataan sms kepada Malaysiakini.

Translation: "Before this, there was an incident much more serious like the demolition of a particular surau by his former menteri besar in Selangor. But the Palace did not intervene, he said in an sms statement to Malysiakini"

In my previous post Aziz Bari had alluded to a demolishment of a surau. The Malaysiakini report I mentioned must have been that incident. If the demolishment was not by JAIS it would have created a national furore.

Here then, I would like to enquire whether JAIS demolition of a surau is more serious than preventing apostasy, according to Islamic teachings or Syaria laws?

While I am not an expert in Islamic matters, I consider that exclamation to be erroneous. Preventing apostasy is viewed more seriously.

The way it was put is sensational for dramatic effect to say the least.

More importantly one need to ask on what basis does Aziz make this comparison?

Specifics. Where are the specifics? In the demolition issue he does not say nor dispute that JAIS was acting lawfully.

He says only that the HRH did not intervene.

In the present DUMC case that Aziz is bitching about, how could that decree by HRH be construed as intervening?

He does not say. Again no specifics.

I won't waste time translating Malaysiakini's aggrandisations of Aziz Bari's literary work. It is just to give credence and it has no relevance in the continuance of the sentence regarding "evidence" and "case closed".

It is relevant however to translate the part of that statement to show Aziz's motive and the other mentioned personality's ignorance of the law,

Quote: "beliau sependapat dengan biskop Katolik Paul Tan Chee bahawa jika tiada bukti, maka kes berkenaan perlu ditutup."

Translation: Aziz is in agreement with Catholic Bishop Paul Tan Chee Ing that if there is no evidence, then the case needs (must) to be closed."

Any person with even a simple knowledge of English can tell you "no evidence" is different vastly from "insufficient evidence". If there is "insufficient evidence" for any legal action no competent authority will proceed to do so.

This is clearly stated in HRH Sultan's decree,

"Based on the investigations by Jais, there is evidence that there were attempts to subvert the faith and belief of Muslims but that the evidence obtained would be insufficient for further legal actions to be taken."

And even if a case is closed because there is "no evidence" it could still be reopened.

Rev Father, is that your problem?

By convention, no offence except by statute of limitation, can ever be considered to be closed.

As for you Dr Aziz, being a professor of Law, stop the spin.

Only political disposition can explain Bari's disingeuous concurrence with Rev Bishop Paul Tan on the "no evidence" therefore "case close".

Firstly, to the dismay of Pakatanis especially PAS itself, in this NST report,

Datuk Dr Hasan Mohamed Ali, who is state Muslim Affairs, Malay Customs, Infrastructure and Public Amenities Committee chairman, said there was evidence of "proselytising of Muslims by non-Muslims"

Datuk Dr Hasan Mohamed Ali is also PAS Selangor Commissioner.

Secondly, recall my previous post Aziz the political troublemaker? He not only effects consternation with anything construed pro-BN but also anything considered anti-PAS. I will now be dilligent to translate what was the outrage caused in that report,

Quote: "Dalam sesi 'percambahan minda' yang melibatkan Dr Abdul Aziz sendiri, pandangannya di Sinar Harian bulan lepas dan wawancara dengan Malaysiakini semalam yang mengkritik pedas kepemimpinan Abdul Hadi menimbulkan pelbagai reaksi daripada peserta."

Translation: In the 'exchange of ideas' session involving Dr Abdul Aziz himself, his views in Sinar Harian the previous month and his interview yesterday with Malaysiakini heatedly crticising Abdul Hadi's leadership drew various responses from particpants.

Why this strong criticism of PAS president Abdul Hadi by Aziz Bari?

Well, you see Abdul Hadi is "pro-Umno", in reference to the Pas president's discreet meetings with Umno leaders to form a "unity government" for which the Tok Guru showed utter contempt, the same sentiment Aziz Bari shows as well.

How anti-UMNO is Aziz Bari? In the same report detailing outcries against Aziz,

Quote: "Sementara itu sewaktu menggulung hujahnya, Dr Abdul Aziz berkata beliau tidak mempunyai bukti atau "ubat" untuk memantapkan PAS.

"Soal label pro-Umno, masuk Umno (yang dikaitkan dengan isu kerajaan perpaduan), ada atau tidak, tuan kena cari sendiri. Kalau tahu Umno cukup jijik pada PAS, yang pergi dekat, buat apa?" katanya."

Translation: Meanwhile in his winding up arguments, Dr Aiz said he does not possess any proof or "medicine" to strengthen PAS.

The question of labelling pro-Umno, joining Umno (in relation to the unity goverment issue), present or not, you gentlemen have to figure yourself. Knowing Umno's deep disgust for PAS, those who went to approach, what for?

Note: Aziz Bari is fully capable to use English words to be specific.

Surely Aziz would be agitated not only because it is the PAS Selangor Commissioner who is saying there was evidence of protelysing, corroborating HRH decree which is the subject Aziz's criticisms, but also him being in "PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang's camp, which is in favour of unity talks with Umno."

Quote: “Di bawah undang-undang atau sistem undang-undang mana-mana sekalipun, jika tiada bukti, kes ditutup. Tohmahan dan dakwaan lanjut dan sebagainya, mesti dielakkan, khususnya di negara seperti Malaysia,” katanya.

Translation: Under the law or any legal system anywhere, if there is no evidence, the case is closed. Accusations and continous allegations and the like, must be avoided, especially in a country like Malaysia.

Joseph Goebbels is attributed to have said, "If you repeat a lie often enough, it becomes the truth". Here Aziz is repeating stupidity hoping it to become intelligent. Even stretching said stupidity "tiada bukti, kes ditutup - no evidence, case closed", being a universal judicial philosophy.

I give a deliberate example by this report,

"The case, which was closed previously because of a lack of evidence, was reopened in June after Ms Haggerty told the National Enquirer magazine that Mr Gore had tried to assault her"

Maintaining his "right" to criticise HRH Selangor just by saying that it is does not follow Islamic teachings without any specifics, he too can be accused of "tohmahan dan dakwaan". Because I hesitate to say, HRH Sultan Selangor's actions not following Islamic teachings according to Aziz Bari is only an opinion, not evidence. And by his standards is a "closed case" and must also cease his "tohmahan dan dakwaan" especially wherever he may be.

Translation: According to Aziz, although Selangor Sultan is seen as exercising his authority, that action by his majesty, however, is seen as inconsistent.

Inconsistency, in as far as the demolition of the surau is alluded to, has been adequately addressed.

Quote: “Yang pasti, baginda menerima kuasanya diambil (oleh kerajaan persekutuan) dalam pelantikan Setiausaha Kerajaan Negeri tanpa sebarang bantahan atau aduan. Daripada apa yang dilaporkan, baginda menerima perkara itu sebagai fait accompli.

Translation: What is certain, his majesty received his authority taken (by the federal constitution) in the appointment of State Secretary without any objection or complaint. From what is reported, his majesty received the matter as a fait accompli.

The constructive words here are "from what is reported". It begs a question from what report? Mainstream media reports? Alternative media reports? Or personal opposition reports?

Whatever the case may be the Selangor State Government had accepted the HRH appointment.

What "fait accompli" is Aziz talking about? The appointment was not subject to Islamic Syaria law which if exercised by HRH as Head of Islam, would then be final and indisputable. The appointment could have certainly be challenged in a court of law.

Translation: For me, the palace should see its authority in a wider perspective; ie it's role as a state symbol and a unifying factor overcoming a political party. It cannot use it's authority in isolation.

Well Prof Dr Aziz Bari, for me, you Sir should see your position in a wider perspective; ie your role as an academician and a unifying factor overcoming your political proclivities. You too should not use your position in isolation for interpretations of law when you affirmed HRH Sultan Terengannu as rightfully rejecting of the then Prime Minister's choice for Mentri Besar as against a "fait accompli" of HRH Sultan Selangor's appointment of the State Secretary.

First it was the loyarburok Bar Council’s constitutional law committee chief with his "Islam is not the official religion of Malaysia" stupidity.

Translated

What is more interesting further down that report is this,

There you have it, Perak and now Selangor, oppositon held and once held states, is why the troublemaker is making such a brouhaha out of the Selangor Sultan's decree - Politics.

When the the Sultan of Terengannu, the present DYMM Yang DiPertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin, rejected Pak Lah's first choice in the Terengannu Menteri Besar political crisis, "Justice for all" portal posts a Malaysiakini report with comments from the same troublemaker. His is reported in Malaysiakini thus,

Constitution expert Prof Abdul Aziz Bari pointed out the appointment of Ahmad depending on the contents of the letter issued by the palace, was effective,

“The swearing in ceremony and all other rituals, in my opinion, are just there to clothe the decision of the palace,” he told Malaysiakini.

“Meanwhile, all the other actions including the protests and intention to boycott the ceremony on Wednesday as well as the sacking of Ahmad from Umno would have no effect on the palace decision.

“Legally the palace decision still stands. But of course, the palace may revoke the appointment,” he added.

No criticism of the from the troublemaker then, when a decision affects a BN State Govt. The Sultan did the right thing.

Even in his own political backyard troublemaker is not short of mischiefing. In another Malaysiakini news item, "Kepemimpinan Hadi jadi isu panas,"

The Sodomy II trial is drawing to a close with oral submissions set on the 23 and 24 November.

My predetermination of Datuk Seri Anwar's guilt or innocence was the day he took that flight to the Turkish Embassy.

Conspicuous, in this Sodomy II case, is the absence of the alibi witness testimony. At the outset his family and during the trial proper, lead council Karpal Singh had indicated as such.

"Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim filed a second notice of motion within a week at the High Court here and this time he wants the court to issue an order to interview 10 witnesses, including two Indonesian maids, whose names he had listed in his alibi notice."

In the application filed Monday morning via Messrs Karpal Singh & Co, Anwar named the two former Indonesian maids of Hasanuddin Abd Hamid, owner of the condominium unit where the incident allegedly took place."

A wikileak cable below even cites the alibis as "solid".

"He urged the government to drop the case as "it is frivolous" and he has a solid alibi with supporting evidence and witnesses (reftel). Two of Anwar's lawyers provided us with details of the alibi, while noting that Anwar often held meetings at the location of the alleged incident (the apartment of a PAS party leader) and the police could likely find DNA evidence of his presence there."

And it was even reported that,

"Malaysian opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim has an alibi showing that he was not present at a condominium when he is alleged to have sodomized a young aide, defense lawyers said Monday.

and

Defense lawyer Karpal Singh said Anwar was in a meeting at another condominium at the time the sodomy is alleged to have taken place."

Most distinctively and prominently, is the claim by Anwar that this trial is a conspiracy just as in Sodomy I by Tun Mahathir and now by PM Datuk Seri Najib, to end his political career.

Even as of yesterday TMI reports,

"The former deputy prime minister said Najib wanted to end his political career and hopes of Pakatan Rakyat (PR) taking over the federal government."

Never mind that the offence, was alleged to have been committed and Anwar duly charged, during former PM Pak Lah's administration and not Datuk Seri Najib's.

This Wikileak cable broaches both the alibi and conspiracy subjects.

What it clearly discloses though, are disconnections and inconsistency on the part of Anwar in the matter of conspiracy, in the present case.

¶2. (SBU) Malaysia's de facto opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim
has gone on the "offensive," his associates tell us, after
emerging on June 30 from this 36-hour refuge in the Turkish
embassy after a junior aide filed a complaint of sodomy
against the former Deputy Prime Minister (ref A). Anwar, who
unofficially heads the Peoples Justice Party (PKR) and the
Opposition coalition (Pakatan) gave a short but emotionally
charged press briefing as he emerged from the Turkish
ambassador's residence, reiterating that the sodomy
allegation against him was designed to prevent him from
filing police reports against current Inspector General of
Police (IGP) Musa Hassan and Attorney General Gani Patail, as
well as to frustrate Anwar's political maneuvers.

¶3. (C) On July 1, Anwar lodged a police report at the
Selangor headquarters against the two men. The report
alleges the IGP and AG fabricated evidence against Anwar and
suppressed evidence supporting Anwar's claim that then IGP
Rahim Noor assaulted him while Anwar was in police custody in
September 1998. Police confirmed receiving the police report
and said they referred the case to the Anti-Corruption Agency
(ACA) for investigation. ACA Director General Ahmad Said
Hamdan said the agency would record statements from the IGP,
AG, and Anwar Ibrahim. One of Anwar's lead lawyers who
prepared the case, Sankara Nair, told polchief that Anwar has
copies of extensive police files from 1998 to back up his
complaint.

Anwar: DPM, Wife, and Aide Behind Plot
--------------------------------------

¶4. (C) After filing the police report against the IGP and
AG, Anwar claimed, during a press conference, that the sodomy
allegation was part of a political conspiracy hatched by DPM
Najib, his wife Rosmah and Najib's aide Khairil Anas to keep
him out of power. Anwar added he has evidence that his
accuser, former aide Mohd Saiful, was in contact with police
chief Musa Hassan and Rosmah. Anwar reportedly referred to
Najib and Rosmah as "murderers," according to a source at the
scene. He urged the government to drop the case as "it is
frivolous" and he has a solid alibi with supporting evidence
and witnesses (reftel). Two of Anwar's lawyers provided us
with details of the alibi, while noting that Anwar often held
meetings at the location of the alleged incident (the
apartment of a PAS party leader) and the police could likely
find DNA evidence of his presence there.

¶5. (C) Anwar's lawyer Sankara Nair told polchief that their

team's investigations had concluded that Najib and Rosmah
were the principle actors behind the sodomy case, and Prime
Minister Abdullah was likely not involved. Nair provided
some details from their investigation. In addition to
damaging Anwar politically, Najib and Rosmah wished to strike
back believing Anwar was behind blogger Raja Petra's
sensationalistic affidavit that alleged Rosmah was at the
scene of the Altantuya murder (ref B).

¶6. (C) Nair noted that Anwar had been traumatized by his
brutalization in prison in 1998, and would do everything
possible to avoid going to jail during an investigation and
possible trial of the sodomy case. Absent a conviction, Nair
rated as minimal the chances that authorities would jail
Anwar because the government did not want to ignite major
street protests around the country. For the same reason,
Nair did not believe the government would imprison Anwar
without trial under the Internal Security Act (ISA).

Wan Azizah Briefs PM, Gets Assurances
-------------------------------------

¶7. (C) Anwar's wife Wan Azizah, PKR President and
Parliamentary Opposition Leader, met PM Abdullah at
Parliament on July 1 and briefed him on Najib and Rosmah's
connection to the sodomy allegations, including providing
Abdullah with supporting documents, according to a
conversation we witnessed between Azizah and Nair. She also
provided Abdullah with police reports that demonstrated the
AG and IGP's roles in suppressing evidence on the 1998
assault against Anwar. Wan Azizah sought and reportedly
obtained assurances from the Prime Minister that Anwar will
not be subjected to same treatment he received in 1998.
Abdullah later told reporters the government will not
victimize anyone with baseless allegations and dismissed
Anwar's contention the government would repeat what
transpired in 1998. The PM added the investigations into the
sodomy charge against Anwar would be handled with fairness
and professionalism. Wan Azizah commented publicly that
while she has some reservations, she would accept the PM's ass
urances and hold him to his word.

Anwar at Rally: Time to Boot out BN Government
--------------------------------------------- -

¶8. (SBU) We attended a night rally organized by PKR on July
1 where the former DPM received thunderous applause from an
estimated 12,000 - 15,000 supporters. In his 90 minute
speech, a visibly angry Anwar berated the government for not
looking into the welfare of the people. He claimed, "they
are more interested in keeping me out of power." Anwar also
reiterated that the latest allegation against him was a
conspiracy hatched by DPM Najib, his wife Rosmah and Najib's
aide Kairil Anas to prevent the former DPM from wresting the
Federal government from the BN. "I'll be damned if I or
other Pakatan leaders were to allow this travesty of justice
to repeat itself." Amidst the shouts of "reformasi" (reform
slogan) from the supporters, Anwar stressed with his fist up
in the air, "the government can call me a Jewish agent, an
American agent or pro Chinese-Malaysian," but I will continue
this fight until "we boot the corrupted BN government
out...."

¶9. (SBU) At the rally, Anwar announced that he is embarking
on a "nationwide road show" to clear his name and expose the
conspiracy to keep him out of power. He urged attendance at
the kick-off event, an open-air rally to be held on July 6 in
Shah Alam, in opposition-held Selangor. (Comment: The July
6 rally was originally intended by Pakatan to demonstrate
against the increase in fuel prices, an unpopular move that
nonetheless has not sparked much public protest. End
Comment.)

Sodomy Case Moves Forward
-------------------------

¶10. (SBU) While Anwar went on the offensive, the sodomy case
against him moved forward. Police announced on July 1 that
the sexual assault report against Anwar involved sodomy.
This is the first official confirmation of a formal police
investigation, and followed police receipt of the alleged
victim's medical exam. Police investigation units also swept
through the condominium where the assault allegedly took
place. Anwar's legal team announced they had yet to receive

the police report against their client despite several
requests. The police also have not yet called Anwar to
provide a statement. Police officials have not indicated if
or when they would provide the dossier to the Attorney
General's Office for a decision on possible prosecution.

Comment
-------

¶11. (C) A visibly angered Anwar is on the offensive and
focused more clearly than ever on Najib, the presumptive
future Prime Minister, as his primary adversary. A small
sample survey by the Merdeka Center found that only 10
percent of respondents believed the sodomy allegations to be
valid, indicating Anwar may be able to capitalize on public
sympathy to generate renewed momentum for his Opposition
campaign to topple the BN government. The sodomy case
highlights that the current risks for Anwar are significant
and very personal, and provides new impetus for Anwar to try
to move ahead more aggressively. The political status quo
leaves Anwar highly vulnerable, a situation that would worsen
should Najib succeed Abdullah.

Note that from the time the police report was made known 28 June 2008, up to the time of his emergence from the Turkish Embassy on 30 June, it was for all intent and purposes as accused by Anwar, an attempt to prevent him and the Pakatan Rakyat from taking over the Govt.

Bloomberg report 29 June 2008,

"Malaysian opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim said a police report accusing him of sodomy is a 'complete fabrication' designed to halt his challenge to the government in the same way a 1998 charge led to his imprisonment."

There was never any mention of Datuk Seri Najib involvement in the affair.

Logically, if that were the case at that point to "frustrate Anwar's political maneuvers", it is Pak Lah who should be culpable.

Being elected MP in Permatang Pauh and appointed opposition leader the very next month of August 2008, preventing Anwar's political ressurection in short space of 1 month, makes nonsense of his accusation.

In fact, Anwar would go on to claim in September,
"At Pakatan Rakyat’s 45th Malaysia Day celebration yesterday, Anwar said he had sought a meeting with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to discuss a smooth transition of power."
But then, Sankara Nair's investigation team had concluded "that Najib and Rosmah were the principle actors behind the sodomy case, and Prime Minister Abdullah was likely not involved."

This is amply supported by "Anwar's wife Wan Azizah, PKR President and Parliamentary Opposition Leader, met PM Abdullah at Parliament on July 1 and briefed him on Najib and Rosmah's connection to the sodomy allegations, including providing Abdullah with supporting documents, according to a conversation we witnessed between Azizah and Nair.

Pak Lah, "The PM added the investigations into the sodomy charge against Anwar would be handled with fairness and professionalism".

To which "Wan Azizah commented publicly that while she has some reservations, she would accept the PM's assurances and hold him to his word".

It follows then, if Datuk Seri Najib and Datin Rosmah were the "conpirators" then Pak Lah is also a "co-conspirator", having being briefed and provided supporting documents of the "conspiracy".

However, nowhere in Anwar's statement from the dock is there any mention of Pak lah and the "conspiracy" placed solely on Datuk Seri Najib.

"This entire process is nothing but a conspiracy by Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Najib Razak to send me into political oblivion by attempting once again to put me behind bars."

By the same token of that statement from the dock, Pak Lah must have kept his word that the investigations into the sodomy charge against Anwar would be handled with fairness and professionalism. Otherwise he would have, at the very least, been cited as a part of that "entire procces".

Whatever Anwar's sexual predicaments hetero or otherwise, I have always maintained, is of no consequence to me.

What is of concern to me is the man and his principles and the lack of it.

A greedy and selfish person who would destroy all that is decent, to achieve his one and only goal and mission in his life, to be Prime Minister of Malaysia.

Here is a man who will subvert his own religion in the pursuit of his self-seeking dream.

His end justifies his means.

In his speech at The Ismail Faruqi Award Presentation Ceremony, International Islamic University Malaysia in February 1995, this he what he said,

"In the context of Malaysia today, this misconception is further compounded by the problem posed by those who, in their desire to gain political mileage, have called for the implementation of the hudud. It did not matter that the hudud laws they have drafted were not based strictly on established methodology of Islamic jurisprudence. Naturally the resultant Bill that was drafted contains serious contradictions and glaring defects in respect of such crucial matters as the scope of the crime, the nature of the evidence required as well as the punishment to be meted out. And worst, they have completely disregarded the paramount objectives of the Shariah itself. This is indeed a most retrograde move."

CM Lim Guan Eng had proferred his apologies to HRH Sultan of Johore for for his sleights on Johore, Anwar Ibrahim must now apologise to all their Royal Highnesses the Sultans for his callous and irresponsible remark.

"Anwar said that the caning sentence imposed on a Muslim woman showed Malaysia's hypocrisy, since many Muslims, including sultans, regularly drank alcoholic drinks."

He can also claim it was made in private but there is no way he can claim to have been misinterpreted.

¶1. (C) SUMMARY: In a meeting at the Embassy on September 14,
opposition coalition Peoples Alliance (PR) leader Anwar
Ibrahim told the Ambassador that, in line with reports in the
blogosphere, he had met with Prime Minister Najib Razak alone
for about two hours in early August. Najib had said that
Anwar,s trial was out of his hands and in the courts; Anwar
disagreed. Anwar said Najib expressed repeated concern about
allegations that he was connected with the 2006 death of
Mongolian model Altantuya Shaariibuu. Anwar also touched on
plans for the opposition coalition Peoples Alliance to create
a joint platform, and previewed his plans to travel to the
U.S. in early October, when he will meet with senior USG
officials and prominent private citizens, including former
President Clinton and former Vice President Gore. END SUMMARY.

ANWAR - PM NAJIB MEETING
------------------------

¶2. (C) Anwar Ibrahim, 62, is Chairman of the Peoples Justice
Party (PKR), a member of Parliament from Penang, former
ruling party member and Deputy Prime Minister (1993-98), and
currently leader of the opposition coalition Peoples Alliance
(PR in Malaysian), formed between the three main opposition
parties after their strong showing in the March 2008
elections. In a September 14 meeting with the Ambassador and
PolCouns, Anwar volunteered that he met Prime Minister Najib
Razak in early August, as had been reported in the
blogosphere. Anwar said he had initially asked Najib to meet
with all three heads of the PR parties: Anwar (although his
wife Wan Azizah is technically head of the PKR), Hadi Awang,
President of the Islamic Party of Malaysia (PAS) and Karpal
Singh, President of the Democratic Action Party (DAP). Najib
declined, particularly objecting to including Singh in such a
meeting, but Anwar was still working on the idea. The
Ambassador commented that he thought such a meeting would be
a good idea, especially if its occurrence could be made
public to help solidify the idea that Malaysia's politics now
included as a permanent feature a need for ruling
party/opposition dialogue.

¶3. (C) Anwar said the one-on-one meeting with Najib lasted
two hours. The mood was stiff to begin with, but Anwar came
away satisfied that Najib had treated him with the respect
due to an opposition party leader. Najid had told Anwar that
there was nothing he could do about Anwar's pending sodomy
charges (ref A), saying that the matter was with the courts.
Anwar told the Ambassador that he had replied to Najib that
he was like an emperor who could do what he wanted to
determine the outcome. Anwar indicated that he did not
expect Najib to take action on his behalf, and for that
reason had resisted Najib's offers to meet again since the
August meeting. He made no prediction about the course of
his sodomy trial except to say that proceedings would be
delayed for at least two months.

¶4. (C) Anwar said Najib referred "three times" to concerns
about continuing allegations that Najib was involved in the
2006 death of Mongolian model Altantuya Shaariibuu, rumored
to have been his mistress, whose body was blown up with
explosives in a remote area. Najib had said that questions
from the media about the case made it difficult for him to
travel abroad. He criticized Anwar for having mentioned the
case. (Note: Anwar joined 80 other opposition members of
Parliament in April 2009 in signing a letter to Malaysia's
King urging that Najib's appointment as Prime Minister be
delayed until an independent commission could determine
whether he was involved in Shaariibuu's death and consider
other allegations of misconduct. End Note.) Anwar said he
had replied that he only saw fit to mention the case after
Shaariibuu's father had visited him and presented a long list
of points and unanswered questions about her death. Anwar
said he had also told Najib that he was fortunate that more
information was not public, and, when Najib had asked what he
could do about the situation, had urged Najib to do the right
thing.

MALAYSIA'S IMAGE

¶5. (C) Anwar said that the caning sentence imposed on a
Muslim woman showed Malaysia's hypocrisy, since many Muslims,
including sultans, regularly drank alcoholic drinks. A
further problem was the Syari'a law did not provide a
mechanism for administering the punishment. He said the
August 28 "cow head incident," when a group of Muslims
demonstrated against the relocation of a Hindu temple by
carrying and stepping on a severed cow's head, showed that
Malaysia's atmosphere was "ugly." In the 1980s, he said, a
Hindu temple had been desecrated and all communities spoke

out firmly against the deed; this time the Home Minister
(Hishamuddin Hussein) met with thedemonstrators and came to
an understanding that there would be no arrests. The later
arrests were only because of the public backlash. His one
comment on the economy was that Bank Negara information,
which he received as a courtesy as a former finance minister,
showed the the GOM budget would face shortfalls in early 2010
because of overspending now.

¶6. (C) Anwar said he wanted democracy to take hold in
Malaysia, so that it could be an example to the rest of the
Muslim world. During a recent visit to Jeddah, businessmen
and officials had told him privately that progress toward
open democracy in Malaysia, Indonesia and Turkey was an
important for the Middle East. He lamented that the
Malaysian judiciary, which "used to be respected," had
deteriorated. Unprompted, he added that the International
Republican Institute (IRI) and National Democratic Institute
(NDI) were doing a great job promoting democracy in Malaysia.

PEOPLES ALLIANCE
----------------

¶7. (C) Anwar touched briefly on a three-hour meeting earlier
on September 14 that he held with his coalition partners,
PAS's Hadi and DAP's Singh. He said that the had told the
two to resolve discord in Selangor -- one of the five states,
and Malaysia's wealthiest, that the PR coalition has governed
since its March 2008 election victory there -- over the sale
of alcohol, referring to a controversy that arose after a PAS
official ordered Selangor stores to stop selling beer. Asked
whether it was a challenge keeping the coalition in line,
Anwar said it was not easy but did not elaborate. (Note:
Media reports said that the PR agreed on September 14 to
issue a common political platform in December. End Note.)

U.S. VISIT
----------

¶8. (C) Anwar thanked the Ambassador for the Embassy's
issuance of new visa to him, indicating he planned to visit
several parts of the U.S. in early October and would meet
former President Clinton, former Vice President Gore and was
hoping to meet State and NSC officials in Washington. He
planned to return to Malaysia in time for the next
by-election in Bagan Pinang, in the State of Negeri Sembilan,
on October 11. (Note: The PR has won seven of eight
by-elections since the March 2008 general election, but the
ruling National Front coalition is widely expected to win
this next race. End Note.)

Holy Father Bishop Paul Tan - What is Your Problem?

With the greatest respect to your good self Holy Father, I humbly ask, what is your problem?

Your Excellency come across and sounding, in this instance, more like a politician and lawyer than a priest.

I can understand that matters of Christian concerns are your domain but the subject party for any grievance, if any, is the Methodist Church, the Damansara Utama Methodist Church.

It is indeed incomprehensible that the Bishop of the Methodist Church, Bishop Rev. Dr. Hwa Yung is relatively silent, in this JAIS affair, as opposed to your Excellency.

Again it behoves me to ask if your Excellency's statements carried by Malaysiakini is your own personal view, like Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on the Hudud issue, or is it the official view of the Catholic Church Malaysia or the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Malaysia or the Council of Churches of Malaysia.

And again also, Holy Father's neglect of the Federal Constitution of Malaysia and now the Selangor State Constitution, is most disturbing.

I cannot comprehend why the need to have a confrontational and radical attitude when issues can be approached by cordial discourse through appropriate channels given Holy Father's many distinguished positions and hierarchy in the Malaysian Catholic Church.

Even if it is a matter of legal arguments, I must then be in the wrong Church because He said to them, "Then give to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's."

It is my earnest prayer that your Excellency do not have a political agenda but by these actions it smacks as such.

It pains me because "Jesus never wanted to be involved in a political movement, and fled from every attempt to draw him into earthly questions and affairs."

So, again I humbly ask your good self Holy Father, what is your problem?

I reiterate, this is another example of Opposition infiltration and manipulation of my Church to create discord and animosity among Muslims and Christians. It is also to sabotage and test the will of PM Datuk Seri Najib to address and abolish "draconian" laws such as the ISA. They are intended to force the PM's hand (and the Rakyat) to react thereby preventing Datuk Seri Najib realising these initiatives which is endearing the PM to the masses.

The budget as Datuk Rocky aptly opined,

"I look at Najib's Bajet 2012 as a great follow through of a series of well-planned economic strategies that the Malaysian government has been renowned for."

While the Tiger did not roar, he did put in a good word. Newsportal the Mole reports,

"From the budget, the government plans to extend legal service to the poor and those in need, which I have to say is something good," the prominent criminal lawyer said.

It is noteworthy to appreciate PM Datuk Seri Najib's dealing those hands in more ways than one.

The desperate Hudud announcement by "Renaissance Man", Don Danny DeVito Anwar Ibrahim, follows his shattered dreams and hopes via regime change by the antics of BERSIH which he certainly desired.

Typical bluster taking the opportunity of events then for those who are always taken by him now.

But Malaysia is not Egypt or those EU/US client regime Arab countries.

It is consistent with the man, to be Prime Minister Malaysia, no matter what the cost.

In light of news coming out of Egypt, out of the uprising inspired by the Jasmine revolution of Tunisia, the Star reports yesterday Sunday 9 July "Twenty-four killed as Egypt Christians, police clash", the proactive steps taken by PM Datuk Seri Najib becomes all the more telling.

Rabid opposition zealots don't go sharpening your knives to carve me on the cliched "if not for us" or the "annointed one", the at all or any cost "Renaissance Man" Don DeVito Anwar, to claim credit.

Just like the shadowy opposition alternative budget, it's easy but remember, nemo dat quod non habet.

Even worse, Anwar not only dat quod non habet, Anwar is non quid is.

What does one expect? Stupid is as stupid does.

Credit is given where credit is due.

Datuk Seri Najib has taken all the opposition bull and shit by the horns with a kick in their asses and his foresight augurs well for the future of the rakyat and the country, as Prime Minister in his own right.

But then as they say, I would be no better than the other guy.

It dawned upon me then to ask who or what is his audience.

The primary educated, the secondary educated, the tertiary educated?

The uneducated?

The decent, the depraved?

Freedom loving civil society ala NGOs?

The Academics, the dunces, the curious?

The Malays, Indians or dan lain lain like me?

The MCAs, the DAPs?

The Dong Jiao Zongs?

Getting my drift?

Let him have his claim to fame.
